My experience with oil clutches is very mixed. Yes you can slip them all day, and put very little if any wear on the clutch surfaces that normally wear. But I had to work on them for oil leaks so many times. I don't know if it would of taken any more time put new clutch in a dry clutch the machine. But seals and a bearing or 2 end up being cheaper in parts than rebuilding dry clutches.
I don't know how close D4 7u wet clutch is to the 9u D6 wet clutch, but the D6 literately never needs adjusting. So what is going on with this D4? The leaking is so bad it runs dry?

Delayed update:
I forget the state of the oil when I parked the machine over winter so I cannot attest to any amount lost over winter.
The oil was maybe 1-2cm up the stick when I found the issue. I had run Brutus for a good 1/2 day and all was good before he wouldn't push in that condition.
Adding the oil to top it off worked so far as I can tell. I haven't had a chance to run him all day yet though as we are just entering rain season. My test only lasted a couple hours and was mainly back dragging wet septic sand.
Previously I also had coolant enter the clutch oil which I cleaned out last year. Not sure if there is a leak of the clutch housing or not but will keep an eye on it. So many other places leak on this machine so it could be the case it has a leak for clutch oil as well.

Ok, well that is fun.
I think the gasket (#4 below) on the clutch cover (one under the machine) is bad ... started Brutus up to move him, moved, then noticed what I thought was simply water draining away from him as it was just raining ... nope, clutch oil ... tons of it. I think I am about 1/2 the amount of oil I need in the housing >__<
Climbed under, and sure enough, leaking near the cover. I tightened the bolts down there but it is still dripping ... Going to have to get some gasket material and make a new ring for it I think.

Dripping from all of the screws :/
Do they make this gasket any longer or should I just get some cork and cut it? I am assuming it is cork, trying to figure out thickness and what materials I can substitute for this now.

Hi
It is just normal gasket material, and I had a hard time to find one for my 7U.

It looks like two gaskets are needed - still, they're very simple gaskets so easy to cut out. A good set of hole punches goes a long way, both for the bolt holes and to start the center cut-out

I don't think this thing has a gasket between the screen and machine.
On another note though, found more of that shim material this time around when I pulled the cover :/
Don't think I ever shared that discovery but I have a photo I can find if anyone is interested.
These two pieces were preventing me from removing the screen till I pushed them up into the housing a little.
Side view of the screen, that hole has been there since I got it.
The gasket that is currently on the cover is 13/16 from the edge to the inside if anyone else is wondering. I picked up rubberized cork thinking this thing would have something like that but it seems this is more of a paper fiber material.

Oh I see, it's a little different from the service reference picture, which appears to show a flange on the screen ring that yours does not appear to have. It almost looks like you're missing a plate that the screen sits on. Have a look in the parts catalog to see if it shows such a part
