Bruce P is correct, that is the Bourden tube for the mechanical temperature gauge. That isn't exactly the traditional routing or number of clips, but I agree with Bruce, the application makes it look extra classy! I was lucky enough to be on and around the machine to inspect at its debut.

Pete.

It also takes up the extra slack in the tube. The other way is to make a coil of it and hide it under the hood.

the only thing that resembles a tach drive that i can see in those pics is a hydraulic hose to supply fuel to the lift pump.

that tractor is a beautiful piece of work, i don't think there is one of us that could nitpick it in any way. as it was a custom build back when it was first introduced, there would have been things not exactly the same as if it would have come from the factory. with all the time and effort and money put in to this project, we should applaud the effort and vision of those that helped make it happen so that the world can enjoy it in person and not just in photos from 50 or 60 years ago.

Ah yes, that's what it is, thanks Roger.

Mrsmackpaul,

In 1912 my grandfather James sought Fortuna in America leaving Italy. He was a stonemason. He worked better than a year in America and returned to Italy to get his wife. They returned to San Rafael, California, to a small Italian community neighborhood in 1914. He started James Ghilotti Construction company. In 1950 his four sons, Willie, Dino, Mario, and Henry "Babe" my father(the baby of the boys)started "Ghilotti Bros" construction. In 1953 my father, his brothers, and other investors started a Readymix company called Shamrock Materials. In 1964 my father started another company called Maggiora and Ghilotti construction. Ghilotti bros and Shamrock are still going today, as is Maggiora and Ghilotti. In 1984, my father had his first stroke. My brother Greg, Gary, and I continued the growth of the firm. In 1991 my father passed, leaving the firm to us boys. In 1967 my uncle Willie passed away. In 1990 my uncle Dino passed away, and in 1992 his Son Dick started Ghilotti Construction with his nephew and my brother Jim. In 1998 my oldest brother Greg passed away from a heart attack at 48 years young. Gary and I continued to grow the company until 2007. I left M&G, and started "Team Ghilotti" with my son Kevin. My daughter Jennifer, and two of Greg's daughters, Connie and Ginger all work for the Team. On April 22, 2007 at 2:30 pm, my new Contractors License arrived in the mail. At 2:45pm I bid our first project and at 3pm that day landed our first low bid and contract. The following week we finished our first paving job... today we have around 80 employees, and have multiple pipe crews, dirt, structural, mechanical, concrete, and paving crews. At the busy time last year we would run around 40 trucks a day, and with subs, trucks, office staff, mechanics, and field personnel would have 150 plus people doing what we do best. Our firm is the youngest of the family history of over 100 years doing what we do, and I am proud to be teaching the next generation to continue to do good work, give back to our community, and treat our workers as Family. Between all four companies at the busy times there are some 750-1000 employees working between us in our local area.

Congratulations Glen and Team!!! Seems that's been a fast 10 years. I remember when you were wrestling with that decision. Being a native of the San Rafael area I can recall seeing the Ghilotti name at many construction sites as well as the Shamrock plant on Francisco Blvd. back in the 50's. Far enough back that open flame kerosene smudge pots were used as night warning lights on road construction sites. LOL. Interesting that Maggiora Bros. is the go to well and pump source in the Watsonville area. Got to be related!! Best of luck with future operations.
