ACMOC, Adco (our publisher) and the magazine committee are going to make every possible effort to get this remarkable story in this upcoming ACMOC issue.
Matt, his family and friends have been able to do something in a very short amount of time that most of us just dream about.
With this event just taking place this week, Matt is going to work overtime this weekend to gather and organizing information with details about this adventure.
If for some reason this story is unable to get in this issue i guarantee that it will be in the following issue!
So... like Tom said, if you want the full story please become a member of ACMOC so you can enjoy this story and many more adventures from ACMOC Members around the world!

This story reminds me of the story that was in the magazine about the member that worked for Henkie & McCoy here in Pa and he sent a couple guys up to Alaska to bring back a Cat 28 if I remember.I will look in the back issues and see which one it was.

Virtually nothing is impossible to do with the right connections and financial backing; not always in that order. Nice recovery of "Yard Art" which can be made operational using the above listed items.

This had more to do with perseverance and communication than anything else. Heck, the owners of the property are just glad it went to a good home. Connections had nothing to do with this and financial backing had less to do with it. The new owner worked his ass off to track down the owner of the land and arrange the extraction. You should not make off the cuff comments if you do not know the facts.

What I found interesting was what was under the cover on the side of the sprocket. The final drive pinion!!! That means the "Bull Gear" has teeth on the inside and is attached to the sprocket. Now how is that final drive lubricated and how do you keep the dirt and water out??? Does any one have a parts book with a cross sectional view of the final drive?? Bill

Hey Dozer51,
It took the "new owner working his ass off to find the owner" and make that connection.
Helicopters aren't cheap. I didn't see anything wrong with your post. Good job Matt and Doug.-glen

Reminds me of that thread a year or two ago about that D2 way out back in some National Park up north, where we all conjectured about how to get it out without putting anyone's nose out of joint e.g. the Forest Service. I think at the time helicopters were suggested but like someone wrote, a Best 25 would be worth it but probably not a D2 (or whatever it was).
Cheers,
Neil

I am extremely thankful for all of the experiences I have been blessed to be a part of with the Veerkamps and their collection. As far as "rescue missions" go, we've had some good ones and some not so good ones (as I'm sure you all have). Form the word go this was probably the smoothest rescue we have ever had, mainly due to the fact that it was tediously planned down to the minute! By far the most fun we've ever had on a rescue, and I am so glad to have played a small part. Now comes the shop fun...
