Have any other members received the letter? In my humble opinion nothing good can come from this approach.

I got the letter today. I know the club is struggling but I am not sure what the answer is either. I would like to see those that are concerned take an active role with those that are trying to make the club better. Maybe they already are and it just is not working..

I will begin by exercising a few keystrokes, for what it is worth, seems my opinion never mattered to anyone up the food chain, past or present.
Who paid for the mailer? Has the club enlisted an attorney? Did any of the past BOD share any of their ideas with the current BOD.
Since there are board vacancies coming up, some think letting them "term out" and installing a new slate would be easier, cheaper and less hard feelings?
Is it proper to have the club administrative assistant partake in this upcoming meeting?
I see more $$ costs involved in this takeover/.overthrow/coup/ousting. Throw more $$$ at the club and that will fix everything (sarcasm).
Many of us are torn by this and mixed thoughts about the situation as well.
Bottom line is we just want to enjoy the hobby and see the club flourish. More fun, less bickering. The rumor of creating clubs independent of ACMOC has crossed the minds of several chapters has been floating around.
Lets all be friends. JM

Hi, Folks.
As yet, I have not received such a letter so I am basically a mushroom. Personally, I don't get much OUT of the club other than expanding my knowledge of old Cats but I do enjoy contributing what little I can and going to ACMOC shows where I have met a LOTTTT of REALLY GOOD people.
I do know that the club is not in the best of shape right now - maybe that is putting a little mildly - but it has come through some rocky times in the past. Let's see if we can get through this one too.
Just my 0.02.
You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

Not really sure what’s going on ..
but I think the main reason things aren’t in the best shape Is mainly because some people decided to make it a business instead of a club of like minded individuals who want to collect , restore Holt, Best and caterpillar machines , research and archive literature and marketing stuff ,
Also have shows and meetings etc , develop friendships , share information and technical knowledge,
The first thing to do imho is separate the club shop and merchandise side of things either form a stand alone business or find someone who wants to take it forward maybe paying the club some of the profits..
The dues should cover the magazine, postage and insurance legal fees , out of pocket Expenses ..
But definitely not someone’s delusions of grandeur having models made and that sort of thing.. t
Let’s enjoy our yellow and grey metal …

@D4Jim - Jim, you are correct that the approach being used here can be very destructive and I know the board is looking at how to best respond without creating further damage. What we can say is that the “concerns” expressed in the letter have not been submitted to the board in any other form including the Annual General Meeting held on October 7th of this year. I know board encourages the involvement of any and every member in the interests of making the Club better. Thanks for commenting.

@Old Cats, the Board of Directors was unaware of the issues listed by this group prior to getting a copy of the letter. There has been no attempt to work with the current leadership to make things better. I know that the board agrees that anyone that feels they can make the club better should take an active role and join those of us that are already working to improve the Club for all members. Thanks for your note.
