It really is in good shape isn't it.
Yes, Neil, it is, and it will look even better with a clean. it just starts and runs beautifully. I changed the plugs on the pony on Saturday and I wouldn't be surprised if they were the original matching USA-made Champions. I'll post a pic soon

Yesterday we got her shifted to her new home and I've started looking through the toolbox - looks like many of the tools from the original tool kit are still there! I just need to get my parts manual and have a look.

I had a look through the toolbox and amongst the myriad bolts, nuts, cotter pins and bits of wire I found these genuine Caterpillar tools - all of which I presume have been inside the toolbox for the last 70 odd years. I was very pleased to see not only one, but TWO 8B6975 Fuel Pump Vent Screw wrenches!

I'm glad you posted a pic of the spark plugs. I have a very original D7 that has the same plugs sitting in the toolbox with yellow paint still on them. I had always wondered if they were the original ones that were on the machine when new.

I have a drawbar pin just like that one - got it from ebay recently. Just like the JD pins on my old lawnmower, the non-generic look is quite fetching
