Great looking tractor! There is a lot of fun there!
Well done, that is a nice looking D2, and in a beautiful part of NZ too by the looks of it.
Wow really nice Mark, well done on that purchase. Promise us you won't ever paint it! : ) 4000 hours over 70 years averages 57 hours per year. I guess he cropped the same brassica paddock every year and that was about it?
You HAVE to post a video of start and run : ) and I'm looking forward to a ploughing video too
That's an awesome find! Well worth the eleven hour drive I would say!. That one is about as original as they come. What are your plans for it after you get it home? Use around the property or a show tractor? Thank you for sharing your new gem. JM
Tidy unit there! I'm prolly opposite of most others, original ag machines attract most my attention at shows around here. Looks like the idler spring covers never been off.
Thanks for posting.

Thanks chaps for all your kind answers, needless to say, I'm very excited to pick this up, it's exactly what I've been looking for! Neil, no I'm never going to paint it, it will get a thorough clean as there is many layers of dust and lots of caked-on grease around the rollers (I'm with Toby on this, more the better), but all the original decals, etc are still in great shape. I'm like Toby, I like things to be as good as they can be mechanically but a nice patina is exactly what I like to see. I don't think the tracks have ever been adjusted, and there's still original paint on the inside of the grouser pads! The owner said it was used for ploughing and discing on their hilly Southland farm but hasn't been used for years as his father, who purchased the tractor, and would have mainly used it, passed away in 2013 but it hadn't really been used for years before that, although it has always been shed stored from new.
I'm going to store it at my friend's estate (where the original 5J D2 Ag Cat that I posted about earlier in the week is stored) and I intend to use it for dragging some firewood logs around and maybe some light discing. I hope to get the old 5J running and yes, Neil, there will be some start-up and running videos (of the two together hopefully), I got some on Friday but you'll have to have some patience to see these 😊. Maybe it will find its way to a show somewhere, but mainly it will be for my own enjoyment.
