I love it! 9U and 8U D6 tractors are some of my favorites. The 6 cylinder engine and boosted steering, along with nice ride made these crawlers popular.
BP what are your plans after swapping out the rollers? I think the no cab ever option is in your mind, hah! (I know you do not care for them). More goodies such as lights, PTO, tow hook, etc? Paint? or its natural state? Looking better each day! JM

Thanks JM! I've got it up on blocks with the tracks loosened to swap rollers, so far all the bolts have came loose ok. It needs sprockets in the worst way. Maybe this winter? I'm on the fence about paint. No plans for lights or generator. Certainly no cab!!!!! Tow hook would be cool, PTO would be nice too if I could ever find one. Hydraulics are the first priority, it had a front mount pump that was neatly hidden. I might use it and mount the resivour on the back with a valve. BeGees just don't have enough PSI to lift many semi modern farm implements.

Hi all, got one half of my rollers removed this morning. Made myself a super high tech roller lifting attachment for my floor jack, complete with scientifically calibrated counterweight.

That's a neat roller jig you made there Bruce, thanks for sharing the photo, I just did the bottom rollers on my D4 7J 2 weeks ago, sadly with no concrete to work on, just winter mud, those rollers are heavy when working on your own, and half my mounting bolts were rusted tight, even a 4 foot cheater bar and heating the bolts heads red hot 6 times wouldn't move them, it was a real challenge.
Your D6 is looking nice, I think you have thrown enough new paint at it already.
Keep up the good work
Mike

Thanks Mike. I've been lucky so far in that all the bolts have came loose without trouble. I'd love to be putting new undercarriage parts on it, but some decent used stuff will have to do for awhile.

Better undercarriage and modern hydraulics sounds like your going to use it some. Cassy and Tad chopping at the bit to come work some summer fallow with it. LOL Wink wink Maybe JM wants to come do some real farming on a sidehill. LOL
You being a natural mechanic you no doubt know this, use the right length Cat bolt so no threads are out in the open to rust and corridor. I had to learn such things the had way.

Thanks Ray. I reused the bolts since they looked to be in good shape. I can see how bolts that were longer would rust pretty bad.
