This evening, after dinner, Callie and I went and took a few pieces off. Diesel tank, floor and hood are off. Next we’ll take off the hydraulics, direct electric dash, and fenders. I’m going to have to get a little deeper than I had thought. The oil clutch housing on this tractor has no provision for the starting engine pinion. So, thanks to U Joint, I’ll get a housing with the pinion provision.
I know, I know, I should just leave it direct electric start. Well, I like starting engines, so there ya are.

Do you have any plans for the electric start bits and pieces from this machine?

Honestly I’ve never measured the pads. They’re around 22” I’d guess. I’ll measure them. The hydraulics are some sort of clever homemade arrangement. The pump drives off the crank, and is hidden. The reservoir is where the starting engine should be, and the valves are attached to the rear case. I’d like to put a cat front unit on the tractor eventually.
The electric start bits are spoken for, I’m trading them for the starting engine bits.

BP some days I wished I had a little helper with me, you’re blessed to have several! Maybe a good thing I don’t, as I’m known to blurt out a curse word occasionally. Don’t need to teach the youngsters bad stuff!
Speaking of bits, are you keeping the hydraulic tank? Did you get enough parts to complete your 17 or do you still need the fenders, etc? Lemme know! Thanks JM.

Hey JM, I’m still looking for some light sheet metal fenders, I'd have some heavy ones to trade. I’m sure there will be some other bits I’ll find out I need too.
So far Callie (5) is the only one of the kids that REALLY wants be in the shop. The older girls will help, but I can tell they’d rather be somewhere else. That’s ok, they get to help anyway lol.

Let me go “shopping” in my buddies 9U bone yard for you. Your kids are growing up. Soon those girls will on the prowl for teenage boys. OUCH! Guard them by making them clean parts! JM

I have one or 2 sets of the early fenders. The heavy ones are better for the brush guards I use in the walnut orchards.
:happy:Having a top for shade was very nice when discing yellowstat thishle last week when it was a 100 out.

Ray, if you’ve got a good set of those, I’d be interested. Juice man will be headed up here at some point so we would have a ride. I don’t know how far you guys are from each other.
Thanks

Hey Ray! Glad to hear you are out and about. The walnuts remind me of a guy I met. His family used to use a D8 36A with a full ROPS to disc a 50 year old block of nuts...they were a bit barbaric, as they didn’t seem to mind snapping off scaffold limbs. I never asked if they bothered to remove the blade. Yikes. I love having the fiberglass soft tops for shade. So much nicer than frying in the blazing sun.
