Hi all. Long time no post, so here goes.  I've been fairly busy with farm stuff, but I decided I'd better get to doing something with 17 or I'd never get done.  I've been collecting parts slowly but surely. This tractor will be getting a starting engine put back on it, but to do that, I had to change clutch covers.   When they had put the oil clutch and direct electric starting on, they used a clutch cover that had no provision for the pinion engagement.  So I've swapped covers, put new seals and gaskets in and changed U joints as well.  Now the clutch is back together, so next I freed up the right hand brake shaft that was nearly seized.   Next weekend I hope to get the correct fenders (thanks Ray54) on, maybe the diesel tank too.  Here are some pictures, enjoy.

Looks good Bruce! I rebuilt the oil clutch in my 17A years back, quite a job, but nice when everything is working like it should. Me and Tom S are freezing out here in NW Ohio but not near as bad as members up in the Minnesota area.

Thanks Rome!   It's supposed to get pretty cold here towards the end of the week.  Thankfully we got some snow to cover the wheat.

Good to see your making progress. Always that pesky part about making a living before you get to go play.

Got the fenders, diesel tank, and seat on today.  Starting to look like a tractor again.

Looking good. That shouldn't be a hard job for someone who excavated an engine out of the earth and got it running. Its cold up my way too, 1degree above zero this morning. Keep up the good work

I guess I am getting OLD in the 70s when I was running a 4R 1327 I would have given anything for a. Oil clutch , Direct start, Hard running board 9U ,now they are antique and we are all putting them back to original, anyway you are going to have a beautiful looking 9U when you are done. Good work times change. 17afarmer

Nice cover under the tank.

Thanks.

Full credit goes to Juiceman on that, he sent that up for me to try.

Ray54 sent me a really pretty original one as well.
