Good question. I have been thinking the same.

Hi, Tom.
If they're available, please put me down for one. Folks may need to know where to send a poor, lost little Aussie boy sometime. Politely, I hope. LOL.

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

Name Tags: We have chosen a supplier, a design, and the design is at Caterpillar Inc. for its approval. We expect the approval in about a week, at which time we will offer name tags for our members. At that time, you can order your name tag and it will be delivered at the show where you can pick it up. They will be metal, and we will be offering several choices of backing to affix to your clothing. They will have the round club logo on them. They will also offer an opportunity to put your city (and state or country) on them too.

This morning (May 19) I made a reservation for the show in the near-by city of Dunnigan. I had no difficulty in making the reservation. I reserved a room at the Best Western Country motel, and for a single, non-smoking, AAA rate, I got $72 a night including tax. Anyone needing a room may wish to consider this place. Telephone: 530-724-3471.

By the way, considering the heat wave that the Sacramento area is currently experiencing, it would probably be wise to bring loose summer clothing to the show (especially cotton clothing that will wick-away your sweat), a hat with very wide brim, and sun screen. There will be plenty of liquid refreshment available at the show, or so I am informed.

How about a picture of this metal tag (license plate??) so we can see what it looks like.

What about non-members?? Learning who's who is an important part of this gathering.

Tom,

Will you or someone be so kind as to start a new post for the show location and cost to get in a couple of weeks before the show? I thought I would look through 16 pages of comments but that would take way too much time.

Thanks,
Karl Stowe

Karl:

Go to www.bestshowontracks.org . Rather than restating all that is written (my time is really stretched right now) please just go to the website. I think you will find all of the info you need there.

Thanks. Tom

 OK, I have been compiling our tractor lists and things are looking REALLY GREAT. We are at the following for the BSOT

Best, Holt and Cat tractors 300+++ It is really hard as registrations have been late coming in and lots of folks are contacting us now and telling us what they are bringing.

Other tractors, I have no idea other than we have more than 150 other crawlers, steel wheeled tractors, steamers, rollers, cranes etc. I know that there will be lots of JD's (some extremely rare ones), INT., AC, Oliver and many many others.

In short, this will be the most amazing array of early crawlers anytime--any where. This will be a walk back in time from 1906 (not including the 3 Best 110 Steamers and the 3 Daniel Best stationary engines) through and including the tractors of World War II. If it is in existance and we know about it, it will be here. There will be as complete a lineup of Best, Holt and Cat tractors that has ever been assembled. There are so many "one of a kind" tractors that I cannot list them all. There will be an amazing compilation of California tractors, gas engines and harvesters--somethings most of us have never seen in one place and will probably never be assembled again.

I confirmed tonight that our prairie tractor lineup is continuing to grow. We have the earliest (if not one of the first few) Gas Traction Big 4-30 circa 1910, the only Best 75 Roundwheeler, an MTMC 35-70, Avery 40-80, Rumely 30-60 S, I think an Aultman Taylor 30-60, Rumely 15-30, Case 20-40, several other Rumely heavy weight tractors and a few others I am working on. This would be a nice lineup for some of the big shows in the midwest--but for California it is unheard of.

And, oh yeah, we have a whole pile of the big Holt and Best tiller wheel tractors, small tiller wheel tractors and everything in between.

I know that a lot of shows get hyped to the extreme and expectations arn't met; let me assure you, this is going to be one fantastic show. This will be the show that we will talk about when we are old men and women. Come on out to Woodland and have a great time. This is going to be fun!!;)
