For those of you keeping track of what is coming to the show, are there any records that might be broken or established?
Sounds like this is the best chance America has to break the New Zealand record set in March.
What about most steamers? Steamers on tracks?
Is there any organization that needs to be contacted?
If it looks like there is a chance, publicizing the attempt would be some great press..

I was wondering when someone was going to bring this one up. Go for it Carl, we have our hands full. When you get folks who live within a 1/2 hour of the show and they are not inclined to bring their tractors, the shot at the record does not sound reasonable. There is no doubt that the tractors are in the immediate area but getting folks to bring them is another matter. Many people are moving heaven and earth to get stuff done and to the show and then there are the others. I have heard every excuse in the book (my favorite is that you will have enough there without mine--and my response is that if everyone had the attitude that you have there would be no = = = = = = show).
My guess is that we will have the most 1925 and before crawlers in one place at one time. I am not sure of anything else. There does seem to be a real ground swell that is taking hold in northern California as the show gets closer. I would not be surprised if we approached the record without any real focus on the record. I am grateful for all of those fine collectors who are bringing their fine tractors from near and far.

Kind of reminds me of the High School Class Re-union. People that live right there in town don't even show up. I'll be at the show and in Aug going back to IA for my 30 year class re-union. Looking forward to Woodland. After the Fling in KS in May. John

Hi, CarlSharp.
I'd reckon that a good place to start would be with the Guinness Book Of Records people:
www.guinnessworldrecords.com/default.aspx
Click on 'Break A Record' and it will bring up a page with a list of FAQ's and there is a 'Contact' button at center bottom.
Hope this helps.
You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

Re: Records
Not an easy process. An application has to be filed for each attempt, and they will send the relevant rules and guidelines for that attempt. This process takes 4-6 weeks unless I send them $592 per application.
The real rub is that the categories are not at an internet searchable database, so the only way to find out what records there are is to use a cell phone text system that is charged for as well.
Sounds like the best thing to do is for all of us to know, without a doubt, that we are attending the biggest and best show on tracks ever created!!
Thanks to all involved...

Carl, funny how you have come to the same conclusion that I did. We will have a GREAT show with more early crawlers than ever assembled. Hopefully some day the next generation of collectors can put to shame what we are assembling. However, with stuff going all over the world and with transportation climbling daily, my guess is that this will be the crawler show that all others will be measured against. I just know that it is going to be lots of fun.

Hi, CarlSharp and Tom Madden.
So much for Guinness Book Of Records being easy to get into. Somewhat mercenary aren't they? You can have your record, IF you fulfill all the conditions AND if you PAY UP, Big Time. And to think I was going to try for the record for thumb twiddling. Plan B.
You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.
