There will be safe ramps at diff heights along with a truckcrane that will handle 20+tons and large to small forklifts. The picture opps will be unlimited as to the combinations big to little, old to new,big to bigger, old to older. This is where you can play all you want with your machines.

Willie, many of us are very anxious to attend the show. Many will be exhibiting. If I were not retired on a limited fixed income, I would haul one of my tractors to the show too. Just too far away, I'm afraid. I'm most impressed with the large amount of work already put into organizing this show. GWH

Hey Willie & Tom,

Just ran into two members on Maui that are planning to come to the mainland for the show. They are thinking about shipping the 30 that Hank rebuilt. Tom helped him with some parts along the way. Just a note that the word is out there and they are coming.-glen

Glen:

YES. We can have it delivered to the Wallace Ranch where it will be locked up. We are staging lots of stuff for the show there. It is only a few miles from there to the Best Ranch.

The next show meeting is in the evening on the 15th Of Feb. in Woodland. Lets see if we can go see Peterson before that.

Willie and I drove around Friday and visited collectors who are bringing tractors and implements to our show. We picked up another Holt 2 Ton that has been in the original family since new. The same gentleman will also bring a couple of rare IH early high crop tractors. We also picked up several more Cat 60's.

When I told Fred Heidrick that we were trying to bring together 50 Best and Cat 60's, he said why not 60 60's. What the hell, the challenge is on. I don't know if there are that many in the area but what the hell. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. I don't know if we will be able to pull it off but we can sure as hell try. We are also trying to bring together 20 of the big tiller wheel tractors to include, 45, 60, 75 and 120 Holts and 75 Best's. These are goals and not priomises. However, no matter how you slice it, there will be lots and lots of big Best, Cat and Holt iron at the show.

We also went to visit the collection at UC Davis to twist some arms to bring some stuff. We particularily need their one of a kind Union Suregrip tiller wheel crawler tractor. I think we will be able to get that tractor there.

Along those lines, we are attempting to have as many California built tractors at the show as possible. We would like to do a photo of an example of each manufacturer which would include the following:

Best, Holt, Cat, Yuba, Union, Samson, Faegel, Johnson, Bean, Madison. What else is out there.

Although the show is featuring Best, Holt and Cat, all brands are welcome and encouraged, particularly if it was made in CA.

Jess Gilbertson is putting together a begee pump to go on the back of a 60 so we can do a demonstration involving pulling an early rice checker. This is Jess' idea. Have 2 60's pull plows to break the soil. Have 4 60's linked together pull the rice checker to pull a check like they did in the rice fields. Have 2 60's follow pulling graders that can roll the check back into place. Where else can you see this?

I will try to dig out some early photos so we can show you what this entails.

More later. If you have not made your plans to come on out to California, visit www.bestshowontracks.org

Just a quick update on some info I have been compiling for the June 20-22 Best Show on Tracks. Although there will certainly be many many early Best, Holt and Cat tractors at the show, there will be a broad variety of later Cat tractors, scrapers, graders etc.

As of now, we will have D2's with scrapers (at least 2 as of now), multiple D4's with scrapers including new ACMOC director Glen with his beautiful 7U and Cat 40, D6 and 60 and new 660 scraper. Ed Akin will also have multiple pieces of early earth moving equipment. Don Hunter will have his late wide 9G D7 paired with his LeTourneau scraper and I believe we will have at least one D8 2U paired with a Cat 70 can. There will be lots of motor and pull graders, dating back to the days of Russell (Cat bought Russell in 1928). Not to be outdone by the "modern" Cats, Don Hunter will have his Holt 75 pulling his Holt land leveler. I believe Irv Baker will also have his small version of the Holt Land Leveler being pulled by Neil Wolleson on his Holt 30. I know that we will have multiple shovels including one owned by Jess Gilbertson and one owned by Ed Akin.

As for the non Cat machines, we are scheduled to have several Rumelys, 20-40 Case, 30-60 Gas Traction, several Averys, the only known example of the Union Sure Grip, several Yuba's, lots of Cletrac, AC, IH, John Deere's, Hart Parr, several Samsons, Faegel, the only known Johnson, Wizzard (another one of a kind), Aultman-Taylor and hopefully an MTMC 35-70 and a big Four City. As you can see, we are attempting to have a very well rounded show that will appeal to everyone. We are also working on the steam line up which will include, Best, Holt, Case, Rumely, A/T and what ever else we can round up.

If you plan to bring tractors, reserve an RV space, apply to be a vendor or wish to attend the Saturday night dinner, please go on www.bestshowontracks.org and print out, complete and send in the form with payment so we can do appropriate planning for the event. Thank you.

Tom, will you have space there for a display of trucks from the ATHS (American Truck Historical Society) we could have several there from some of our members in Sac, Stockton, and Turlock, plus I'm guessing the Truck side of ther Hays Museum would want a disply also, Ed Rocha is the contact for the Hays, and I can set op for the ATHS.
Also our National convention and truck show is going to be held at the Pleasenton Fairgrounds in May of 2010, and we would like to have ACMOC there as well as EDGE and any other tractor groups and venders plus we'll also have a swap meet corral.
