I like heat, to take advantage of the different expansion rates between pistons, rings, and liners. Hard to do out in the field unless you remove the cylinder head. I think one could make up a rig using a generic water pump from autozone, some kind of heater, and a selection of hoses to connect to the bottom and top of the cylinder block. Maybe drive the whole lot using a portable generator

I have bad news…

George Snipes from Snipes Heavy Equipment Repair had some free time today so he was able to go out and inspect things earlier than he thought. He was able to get each side jacked up and found the tracks completely frozen. He ensured the brakes were not on, as well. He said he even put a 20 ton hydraulic jack directly on one of the sprockets and couldn’t get it to budge. Since he said he’s been doing this type of work for 50 years, I asked his advice on what to do. He said in his best guess it would take around $20k to get everything back in proper working order. I think this is effectively going to shut me down. I really want to save it, but can’t justify the cost.

I sincerely appreciate each one of you who replied to this topic and tried to help. If anyone would like to pickup where I’ve left off, below is the link to the listing. The owners granddaughter posted the listing but I can get you his name and phone number if interested. Just let me know.

Also, if interested, I have a freshly rebuilt Wico XH1263 Magneto from Mark's Magnetos that I wasn’t able to use

And

A carb rebuild kit for a Zenith 10320

Lastly, if anyone knows someone selling a running and operating D7 sized machine, please let me know.

The search continues…

Ah bad luck, but finding a working one will greatly reduce your effort and will also increase your seat time.
Maybe tell one of those youtube blokes to do a "will it start" and let them pay for getting it going. They're all as rich as Croesus I'm sure : )

20 grand that might be if he did it. but you would be surprised what diesel and time will do. if you could jack it up and wash all the dirt out the track and soak it with diesel.

another way to shift it is jack it up place a bit of channel iron under each track weld or bolt em to the grousers each end and use logs or pipe as rollers to drag it out of the scrub with a another machine.

To bad it is so far gone, many parts looked good. The good or bad is one of those things that can cost a lot of extra money ether way. As bad/very warn track take a lot more to rust up so they done move. The better the track the easier to rust up. I had a brand new set of tracks that never fully freed up. The dealer put them through the track press and freed them up at no charge, but it still cost to remove and haul them back. And yes I did park my tractor so 2 links sat in diesel fuel for about 3 months, as I was away harvesting crops. I could then use a 10 pound hammer and move them, so I ran it another planting season and still locked.

So my guess is very good tracks on this D7. But would take a full on pin and bushing turn to free them up.

With all the bad luck on this D7 better luck on the next one .
