Well I've got the radiator all reassembled with new genuine CAT gaskets top and bottom and then fitted it back on the tractor - filled it all up with water and have had it sitting full for a few days - no leaks from the radiator which is a great result! However there is a slow seep from the new carbon water seal on the water pump which I hope will 'take up' with some running. Has anyone else experienced this before?

Yes I have seen that before. Happened in the last two weeks at work on a water pump on reassembly there was a small weep from the seal that stopped once the pump had been run.
However that is only a slow weep meaning a drop every 5-10 seconds or so. Any greater than that I would suspect a damaged seal.

Thanks Phil, yes it's only a very slow weep, which hasn't even left a puddle on the floor, sort of a drip every 30 seconds or so, so it should take up with some running. What do you do for work and what was the pump on?

More progress on the D2, I managed to remove the track frames and the injection pump:
The injection pump had a oil leak from the 'Govenor locking control' and I also wanted to replace the main seal and oring between the pump and fuel filter tower:
New seal in place
damaged gasket causing oil leak:
And all cleaned and back together:

Last night I got the injection pump back on the tractor and the injector lines back in place:
I had a close look at the pivot shaft and I was amazed to see that it has negligible wear with the factory machining marks still mostly visible:

those cross lines are from the bearing shells and are trace of lube grooves. most slipper or cast in place white metal bearings had them the idea was the lube could flow and spread evenly via those grooves. id say its been sitting a while to leave marks on the shaft. its no problem probably disappear with some use.

Nice work! From the side view your blocks look like our Grand Teton Mountains, I’m sure you’ve got her on a good base.
Is it the D311 in that machine? I haven’t read your entire post, how is your starting engine? Is it a rope start or am I not seeing a starter?

Yes, she is reasonably stable, but I sure won't be levering on her too hard! Yes it has the orginal D311, I've had one of the engine side covers off and its like new inside.
It's the orginal rope start pony, which starts first or second pull every time. No crank end float or smoke to speak of either! This tractor is the most orginal I've ever seen, I brought it off the orginal owner, it was always shed stored and the hour meter shows an orginal 3960hrs.

I realise that sir (I have watched every episode of Toby's including the one where he made the bronze bearings for the pivot shaft and hand ground those gooves into the internal diameter by hand). I'm talking about the machining marks on the pivot shaft itself, zoom into the photo and you will see what I mean. There is a little more wear towards the inside, however it is minor.

Very nice tractor. Everything looks in excellent shape, I did notice your sprockets have been welded. It'll be good as new when you finish. Great work please keep the updates coming
