Yes, I dropped the ball there Deas. It would have been pretty funny to watch.
Actually I had seen the wasps going in and out of the stack so I knew they were there. I had been waiting for a rainy day to try to start it because it was sitting in 4' tall rye grass. As hot and dry as it's been I didn't want to send hot wasp bits into that kind of fire hazard. It was nice an wet yesterday so all was well.

Hi, Bruce P.
So are you gonna be better prepared next time?
Hope you get 9U running easily too.
Just my 0.02.
You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

Bruce,
You really need to put the video camera on before you start the 9U!
Either the wasps will get singed or you will get the "hot" end of them. Either way should be some exciting video.
(Long sleeves, maybe a "beekeepers veil" and LONG FAST LEGS?)
Oh yes, been there before and I could not outrun 'em!

I'm not sure the 9U will be as bad as the D6Bee (pun intended) was. 9u has a rain cap where the B just had a bent sideways stack. However I will make sure to take my GoPro when I go after the 9U.

So I was able to fuss with the 9U some today. I was changing the oil pressure gauge and noticed the dash was just a little too nice to be a farmer built piece. If so it obviously was added later.
Was there a different dash in the factory direct start 9U's??
Here are some pictures

Thanks keloz, that clears that up.
Dry air cleaner updates were very common in these parts, Dads 7U and his 4G both had dry air cleaners. The 4G got converted back when he put a dozer blade on it.

Nice dash BP. I have a 9U that I believe was a field retrofit; it's not nearly as nice as yours, but relatively straight and clean. My disconnect switch is on the left side of motor below the compression release lever. It does have portions of the factory battery tray btw; I'm looking for a lid and panel uprights. I wish mine had glow plugs. Oh well. If I can find pics maybe I will post. Thanks for sharing. JM

Thanks keloz, now that I think about it, I've never seen a factory electric start 9U up here lots and lots that have been converted though. I had no idea they put the air cleaner up there.
Dads 7U was electric start, it had the primer pump as well. It worked really good.
Thanks again for the pictures
