Looking great, those track frame bushes are hard to remove, and expensive to buy if you get new one's from Cat, from memory they were over $300 each 10 years ago.

No longer available from Cat. I couldn't figure a way to pull them out so I cut the housing and pushed them out.

Track frames almost done, paint on top rollers tomorrow. I'm hoping seals will be in tomorrow for the top rollers.
I'm getting real close to painting the transmission and engine
Found another brass repair

I like your carrier roller stands Scott - mine are the "tube on a plate" type and like the frames, are just about rusted through. Think I'm going to replace them with a new piece, that takes the D3 carrier that's going on it. All my rollers are going to be D3 - they're sitting on the floor under the 3J engine waiting for me to do something with them...

Cheers,
Neil

My stands were in pretty bad shape when I started. They were welded to the frames, broken bolts and the shafts were really worn. I had all the information on the d3 conversion but got lucky and was able to come up with enough pieces to make a good set. It took 3 d2 tractors to find all the pieces to make one.

I got the top rollers assembled and installed.  I learned 2 things today, I wouldn't say it's impossible to install top rollers after the rest of the track frames are together but it would be EXTREMELY DIFFICULT.
I had to take the second bottom roller from the front off to get at the bolts for the top roller stand in and tightened.
Second thing is I'm going to have to take the blade mount off to get the track tin on.
Direct cross to Cat number for top roller seal.

That is a lot of purdy parts there! Beautiful work Scott. Someday I hope to go through at least one of mine like that. I have a friend that is offering me what I believe is an HT4 track loader, free for the taking. Only catch is it is in Northern Manitoba and does not have tracks or idlers on it. Oh and it has been sitting 20yrs 😁 Part of me thinks a track loader could be really handy. Worth putting the kind of effort into that you are displaying for us. Maybe I could rig a 4 in 1 on it? Anyways just dreaming and scheming, provoked of course from seeing your nice progress. Keep it up.

Just a note, the lip seal in the carrier roller should be reversed, like that no grease will release and will push the seal out of the roller, the smaller lip will keep grease in and the larger lip to keep out dirt and water.
