Well more cleaning didn't reveal any good news. All my axel shafts were toast and and all the bushings are shot. Well thats not really a surprise, but I always try to be optimistic. New shaft material and bushings on order. My friend Bryon (aka Marcus Maticulus) is on the hook to turn the bushings and shafts. I'm a 30 or 40 years of wear removal kinda guy, his work will more than meet my standards

Some work on the bottom rollers while I'm waiting for shaft and bushings.
It took 4 hours to clean all the old grease and dirt mixture out of the front idlers. A couple of the grease holes had dirt and dry grease in them and it was like concrete.

That machine is getting a whole lotta love for sure Scott! Keep up the good work. I get a warm fuzzy feeling inside when I know the work is done right and I know everything is as it should be and this looks the case with your little D2.

Thanks Nathan, the love is the easy part the money is all that slows me down.
I never imagined when I started how much different a restoration was than get it working. Big pieces are starting to come together now and paint is starting to flow.

Looking nice, even those little D2 rollers are heavy aren't they!
They're not to bad until you start putting all the pieces together and before you know it they're pretty darn heavy.
Track roller frames are no longer a man handle item

I had 7 berco rollers that were within cat spec and 1 Cat roller that needed welding on the rim. I used the mig wire feed to build up the rim and a grinder to true it up
