Thanks again Bruce P,
Interesting on the old D4D SA. No turbo on that one. I wonder what model s/n that would be?

Your welcome Old Magnet. I suspect the one in the multiple page book is a 78A, while the one in the smaller pamphlet is an 84J. I do stand to be corrected though. Those were the main D4Ds around here. I know that the 78a was offered with a turbo as a normalizer. My cousins 84J had no turbo but one was added at the dealer using Caterpillar parts. It has spent it's life up here without any issues that I'm aware of.

Yes, I believe that is correct. Standard 78A was NA but had turbo normalizing attachment option. Just never saw the 78A referred to a SA.
84J's were SA but no turbo at least up to 84J1524 when my parts book ends and does not show turbo as an attachment.
Guess it's safe to say not all SA tractors were turbo'd.

Paul
Your welcome, I've looked at this stuff for years but really never thought anyone would be interested in it.
To me it's a reminder of the twilight of Cats steel track Ag business.

My thoughts also Bruce , I have a lot of pics and brochures of the D4D SA and D4E and R SAs. I havehad different all versions of both. D4D turbo, non turbo. 60'' gauge 18-20'' pads 5 roller frame, also had 70'' gauge 24'' pads 5 roller frame. On the D4E SAs I have had the same except for the 6 roller frame,70'' gauge and 24'' pads which I am currently running now. A world of difference between them all.

Agreed, the D4s had quite a transformation. It's been a while since I've ran a D4E but I remember it seemed like the space shuttle compared to our poor old 4G. 4G is still here however...

Here is one for sale up here somewhere. (Not mine). Anyway look at the last picture of the serial number plate....D6D? I was told once that an AG6 was a D6D with fancy clothes, but I thought that was a story. Maybe not?
Hopefully this link works
www.jecosupply.com
Edit. Ok so the link doesn't take you directly to the AG6. Click on tractors and you'll find it. If I thought it wouldn't end my marriage I would seriously go look at this one.
