Hi Gang, since there was interest in these I'll start a new thread dedicated to the SA tractors, witch are near and dear to me. The following pics are from my Dad's collection of SA info that he collected from dealers in the area over the years. Sorry about the reflections and shadows, these foldout brochures get funny curves in them and sometimes the light reflects.

Note: I first dug these out when the question of D5B's being factory turbocharged came up. I was hoping to find something like " The D5B uses a turbocharged 3306 set for..." but nowhere does anything I can find specifically state that for any SA model. Only engine model and horse power are given.

Having said that, every D5B that I have been around is turboed, and if you look in these pics you can see a turbo on the D5s pictured. I do know that the earlier one's had glow plugs and the later ones were direct injected.

At any rate enjoy these, some of the info is redundant but the pictures are cool. Here are the first two page by page, more to come.

Hi Bruce P,
Thanks for your response, unfortunately the first attachments don't seem to work.

On the turbo thing I can verify at least one model, the D5 21J SA of 1967 (one year only) as having a turbo and rated at 120 hp. Unfortunately it was a very limited production model and I am yet to verify if it was a D333A or D333C engine as it sits right on the fence as far as engine change. Would take a parts manual to sort it out.

As you have stated it's very hard to verify the turbo application in later models. The only believable solution would be actual parts manuals.

Edit:
I have the parts manuals covering the 93J series, also started in 1967 and can verify that it uses the D333C so I think it's safe to say the 21J SA model would use the D333C engine also.

I'm having trouble with the webpage telling me I'm not logged in when I go to download photos. I have lots of room in my image storage (20.8 out of 100) and I have resized them like I always do. At first I thought it was my I phone but it's doing it to me on my PC as well. Sometimes it works no problem then it goes to having fits.

Any ideas?

I would like to share this stuff.
Thanks in advance, Bruce P

PS I have no idea why this photo choose to show up as the website had kicked me out when I tried loading it.

Don't know what to tell you on the attachment posting. I have not been experiencing any problems.
Does any of your literature cover more information on the actual series numbers?

We'll try this again. I've always thought the D7 on this cover was the most handsome SA period.

Not that I have found, which is frustrating. These two are the only ones in the house so I'll get some more tomorrow.

Could the problem be trying to load to many pictures at one time. Seems I recall 5 is the limit per batch.

I can figure out the s/n's on the SA's but was looking for more info on earlier models.

That one picture of the engine has a big reflection right where the turbo would sit. Is there a turbo shown?

Yep turbo attached.

Don't know on the photos, doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason. Sometimes it's the first one that trips it, then it'll take them all no problem. If I new what set it off I would try to avoid it. Part of the fun I suppose.

Bruce I too have always enjoyed the SA tractors mostly the D4e SAs. I have owned both D4Ds ,5 roller frame 70" gauge , 24" pads and turboed 84Js and 5 roller frame 20" pads and non turboed D4D SAs. I use D4E SAs for cutting fire breaks, you can't beat them for steep hillside work. All are turboed,6 roller frames 70" gauge with 24" pads also equipped with factory Cat cabs. Over the years a have kept a log of all the D4E SAs I have ran across or seen for sale logging there location, serial number ,owner and sale price.

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
