hey guys

got a lil update on the brake adjustment

well im still working on my fence row clearing job . i bit the bullet and got after adjusting the brake bands
i used a lil heat on the left break band lock nuts and the came right off adjusted it checked the pedal while i had my ratchet and extensions on the adjusting nut tighened her up and the pedal felt good so buttoned up that side . took the right side off had to put a lil heat on those nuts also but got it loose adjusted it out got good pedal feel and plenty of travel left on the pedal buttoned that one up too put the floor plates in and by that time it was dark so put up all the tools.

came back the next day fired her up and took off lol .... just kidding i warmed her up till the water temp showed operating temp

pulled the clutch in in 2nd gear turned left slick as a button and felt nice to be able to steer and stop again so i tried to turn right
i pulled the steering clutch and hit the right brake and it slowed down some but didnt turn . my thoughts are that the steering clutch may be rusted up and not turning loose . i did use it about 2 years ago and no issues but the right brake was fading and i started using the left more and more till it faded away also so i have good brakes no steering right . my plan is next time im there to try and break it free dig into the dirt or up against a big tree pull both steering clutches back and then try to let the right side do the work an maybe i can break it free .

well after adjusting the clutch and the brakes
the clutch lever linkage has broken or come loose no clutch action

luckily it stopped engaging instead of staying locked in

anyone have any idea on this issue

thanks all
Charlie

Which clutch has stopped functioning?

Main clutch typically looses the teeth on the composit friction disk that keeps it turning with the flywheel. You would find the debris loose in the flywheel housing.

Maybe it just needs adjusting tighter?

D2-5J's, D6-9U's, D318 and D333 power units, 12E-99E grader, 922B & 944A wheel loaders, D330C generator set, DW20 water tanker and a bunch of Jersey cows to take care of in my spare time:D

hi ccjersey its the main clutch the clutch lever feels like its disconnected from the pressure plate
i was operating it and cleaning up an area no real pushing going on just pushing up debris

i went forward and then stopped to reverse i put it in reverse but when i went to engage the clutch there was no pressure on the clutch handle . like it has come loose inside the clutch housing

Maybe it will be a simple repair, key fell out or something. Seems more likely than a disk failure since it happened while you were shifting gears instead of pushing.

If it’s an oil clutch I would start by draining the oil and cleaning the pump suction screen.

Hi Team,
933F will be oil clutch with two clamp plates to lock the adjuster ring in place.
if the clamping plate nuts are over tightened they can often strip the threads of the studs they are on.

A quick dirty field fix is to use a die nut to run a new 5/16" UNF thread onto the stripped stud stub.
take care to have rag under the work area, use plenty of grease when running on the new thread to help catch the chips--a magnet close by helps too.
Did this a few times in the Field for clients to get them by until they could get the clutch removed and new studs fitted, my feeling is that they are still running as now greater finesse is need to not over tighten the now smaller studs.

Being forewarned of the softness of the parts used is a bit late and not anywhere in literature--school of hard knocks comes to mind.
Cheers,
Eddie B.

Hey all
Well i didnt have much time today but went over and took off the inspection plate for the clutch .what i was expecting to see was a busted ball and socket on the clutch adjustment rod. However what i have found is its not broken . The adjustment rod is connected at both ends . I cant really see it . Its raining on and off . I need to take the tranmission cover off but dont want to cause of weather . Anyway i think it must be a busted roll pin or bolt holding the clutch rod on the clutch leaver bottom part because the adjustment rod moves both ways but not enough to engage the clutch .like its slipping on the shaft that is bolted on the clutch leaver side . Does any one hav a diagram of the clutch adjusting rod fot the hand leaver ? Old Magnet do you have anything in a service manuel for this machine 933F 42A1750 . I do have the manuel but it only offers tips on adjusting the linkage and the clutch break . No illustration no

Hey all
Well it turns out it was only the arm that connects to theadjustment rod . It had come loose and had almost slid off the shaft . Luckly the woodrif key was still in the shaft . I needed 3 hands to get it back on . Finally got it about 8:30 . Tighened the bolt up and put back the big transmission cover . I feel lucky i didnt lose the keyway or mess up the shaft . Im still puzzeled why it came loose after 58 years lol .
