hey thanks for the quick response

the main clutch does snap in nicely the steering clutches seem to work fine they disengage easy and both seem to operate like they should

it just went away so quickly from pushing to almost not being able to get back to where i had it parked up a small hill . i did stop and let it rest for a bit and tried again it pulled the lil hill and i got it parked . but as it is i dont think it will be able to climb back on a trailer . the area where the steering clutches are have a plate on the bottom of the machine with a hole about 1 inch on each side i think the steering clutches are dry type .

i like this lil loader its a beast compared to a bobcat of same hp and nicely overbuilt.

does anyone have the clutch adjusting procedure

thanks in advance

charlie

This should be a link to a thread where Eddie B posted the instructions for adjusting the oil clutch on a D4 but should be the same as your 933.

I’m not sure that’s going to help yours though. Normally you would notice that the clutch was much easier to snap in before it quits pushing. However it may be a case of gradual wear that goes unnoticed until it actually starts slipping. Hope you haven’t had a major failure of some component. If you want to adjust first and see what that does, it shouldn’t be too hard. Or you could drain the clutch oil and look for debris in it that might explain the sudden onset.

One of the pictures shows the dipstick for checking oil level and the fill plug next to it. I used to have a SRB on the oil clutch D2 but can’t find it at the moment.

D2-5J's, D6-9U's, D318 and D333 power units, 12E-99E grader, 922B & 944A wheel loaders, D330C generator set, DW20 water tanker and a bunch of Jersey cows to take care of in my spare time:D

Thanks CC Jersey and OL Magnet i think i have a handle on what needs to be done provided the clutch material is not totally worn off
im going to try to adjust it first i have another bit i need to clear and pile up

it did come on rather quickly it has been setting all winter and half of the summer last year under an awning to keep the water off
sides are open tho but it stays dry

hopefully i wont have to replace the clutch . i already need to source brake bands for it ive used up all the adjustment on them

do you have any part numbers for the clutch disk and break bands on this machine its serial is 42A1750

thanks yall

you guys keep these old machines running and working the cats that built America

Hi Team,
it is not unknown for the adjustment to back itself off if one of the lock plate nuts/studs have stripped.

A quick and dirty fix is to run a 5/16" UNF die nut down the stripped off 3/8" UNF stud.
Put plenty of grease in the flutes of the die nut and on the stud to catch any stray shavings--a rag underneath helps too as well as a magnet under there too--can be done as I have had to do it in the field to save pulling clutch out there for clients who elected to run with the reduce dia. thread--do not recall any coming back for a re-fit--guess they took more care and did not over tighten the locking nut, as CCJ warned above.
Cheers,
Eddie B.

well its been raining like cats and dogs here in the south east . i managed to get over and check out the loader when the sun peeked out from behind the clouds for an hour last weekend

turns out i have to remove a floor plate to pull out the dipstick for the clutch housing . its pointing straight up under the left brake pedal floor plate .

i was in the car and didn't bring any tools i was hoping the oil was low but as im reading everybody comments i think i need to adjust the clutch . really need to pull the floor plates and the clutch cover to inspect the clutch and the clutch lever it was a lil loose . it snaped in but not like usual seemed a lil weak or loose .ill post up some pictures this weekend

im off for 5 days i should be able to determine what needs to be done and if i infact need a clutch disk or adjustment will do

thanks all

\
thank you

sae 20 i think the engine calls for sae 30wt but i run dello 400
its cheap and it seems to run better on it like less friction than
than rotella even tho its the same weight oil 15 40
