I sprayed mine with kroil oil for at least a week, then pounded the heads with an 8 lb sledge, then a long cheater bar to try an tighten, and then loosen, the stubborn ones i smacked with a sledge as i tried to loosen and eventually got them all out

If the bolts are a one inch head they would be around a 3/4 inch thread, a 3/4 inch impact wrench or a one inch should have enough power to twist them off. Ingersoll rand makes a new 1/2 inch impact gun that is rated at about 900 ft lbs of torque, click on the link for specs, www.ingersollrandproducts.com/en-ap/powe...ools/2235qtimax.html I bought this impact wrench and it has more power than my 3/4 inch impact has. sometimes, if you try and tighten the bolt and loosen it with ian impact the pop free quicker than just rattling on them in reverse all day long.

if you weigh 200 lbs and are using a five foot cheater, you can exert about 1000 ft-lbs of torque, but you need the impact to break the bolts loose, one thing you can try, is to hit the heads of all the bolts with a BFH, like a ten or 12 pounder. you may want to put a plate of steel over the head so you don't disform it so your socket will still fit on it. works great on final drive plugs etc. at the dealer, we would consistently break the 1/2" drive head off of a 24 inch breaker bar trying to get final drive oil level/drain plugs out, if you gave each plug a good smack with a hammer they would turn out with almost zero effort on the 24 inch breaker bar.

dan can type faster cause he is less wordy.......LOL.

Check your sizes again, they should be 3/4 - 10tpi tapered head wheel lug style bolts. 1-1/8" head size. Part number 3F6697. I reserve the hydraulic rattle gun for those with 2500 ft-lb capacity.

I think these are in there good. I hit them all a few times with the 10# hammer, kroiled them to the extent that I could ( I can't get in behind to the other side where the bolt is exposed), and then used a 3/4 to 1" torque multiplier which would have put about 1500# on them (roughly put 3/4 of my weight on the 5' cheater). Not sure what to try next - drill or torch - latter probably although I don't know if I'd be able to blow a hole all the way through from one side - that bolt's about 2" long?

I wouldn't give up yet, keep trying to beat, heat, spray rattle etc.

If you are ready to go to the next level, blow the conical heads off with a torch and get the frames out of the way. Then plan on heating the stubs and let it cool, spray, apply candle wax etc. Finally weld a nut on them and rattle them out with an impact. Once the conical head is not binding in the frame socket, there will be a lot less holding them in the track frames.

Having pondered it overnight, I'm first going to rent a compressor and 1 inch rattler from Sunbelt to see what that does (probably wring the bolt's neck...). I can't get my torch in behind to heat the frame with the tractor sitting on the garage floor so if the rattler doesn't work, then I'll set it up on some 6x6s to see if that gives me enough room. $38 eh? 16 x 38 = $608 in bolts - definitely worth trying some more options : )
A couple of the bolt heads are wasted from rusting - is there any value in jamming some shim stock in between the socket and the bolt head to take out some of the slop? If the rattler goes at the head, it might just round the head off

Cheers,
Neil

I've used shim stock before to take up the slop, it doesn't always work. I would try a mix of metric and standard sockets to find one that fits best.

I still can't get the plugs out of my 25 tracks they won't come out I've heated and used a puller and nothing seems to work I guess I will end up air arcing them out and have a machine shop make me some solid pins.
