I hit the lower roller jackpot again. My friend Bryon and I measured all the bushings and only 2 out of 16 need replaced. The 2 that needed replaced had a bad seal . I'm going to order some stock so we can get the bushings made.

I have never liked the gear shift bent at a 90 degree but that's the way Cat built it so I dealt with it. Was doing some reading in the Hyster winch manual and found directions to bend the gear shifter up for better access to all the added controls. So I took the shifter assembly out to heat and bend the shifter and clean and paint. The boot was bad and the first shield had a hole rusted through it. Got the shifter bent and repaired the shield.

Thanks Niel, one coming from Western States Cat along with some lower roller parts. Florin has what cat didn't, so lower rollers should be done soon.

My little D2 saw the light of day for the first time in a long time yesterday. The weather has been pretty mild so a bath was in order. Not ready for paint clean but a lot closer, and I wasnt looking forward the indoor bath.
Prepositioned it for a little better access and drug the blade in before there was footages of snow.

Did a little cleaning and paint removal after the bath. There's a lot more surface area on a d2 than you would think. I was able to get the brake band out of the winch and clean the brake housing. The brake housing was pretty nasty but the gear housing was pretty clean. All the gears in the winch looked nice and crisp with no broken teeth. Looks like new brake lining is available and my friend Bryon has the tools to rivet new lining on.
Still have to remove and clean the injection pump and fuel tower.
Also got a new clutch shaft bushing from Florin, took all of the play out of the shaft

Gee, the transmission looks a lot less robust than the winch in picture 3. Kind of surprising that the engine can hang off the front of the transmission and the winch off the back and the tractor can crash and bump over rough terrain and not fall apart

It does look funky with the spring removed but there's a lot of heavy duty steel in there. I would guess that this tractor has already had it's best chance at crashing apart!

I’ve got one that cracked and was welded back with some sort of nickle rod, so they can break!
