Hi, Davo727.
I dunno about your side of the puddle but here in DowNunda, we usually get it from a farm (ranch) supplies store - sometimes hafta order it in.

Other uses for it are sealing horn stubs after de-horning cattle, goats or rams and sealing cuts on trees after pruning or lopping.

Just my 0.02.

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

Very good. :) Im thinking I will too once I get better on it. Having a hard time getting the blade where it needs to be and seeing exactly what its doing.

Those are sealed and lubricated tracks, are the track shop going to reseal and lube them at that price? Have you actually measured the bushes to see of they require turning? To turn bushes in SALT track when they are not ready and not re-seal them is a waste of money.

Hi, Davo727.
I have only ever operated 2 D6Cs with straight dozer blades and could not see the ground behind the blade on either one. Trick - put the blade on the ground on a flat patch of dirt and pick a marker point on the back of the blade that you can see above the front of the track to use as a reference point for where your cutting edge is in relation to the ground. Over time and with practice you will likely get to a stage where you no longer need that reference point as you will know where the cutting edge is without it.

The D9Gs and Hs were the same.

OK Thanks, I will be taking a bunch of measurements and check back with you guys and the shop, I dont know all the details of what they do but it is Adobe Machinery and looks to be an established and reputable business and not fly by night.

Good idea thanks, I will level it and put a little stripe on the back of the blade so I can tell.

Rail heights with a tape measure 4 3/4 to 4 13/16. I will dig out a more accurate measuring tool tomorrow. The bushings are well out of round. Will find my caliper.... How should I preload the track to take the 4 link measurement? And measure the links that are on the ground? Chain the dozer to a tree in low gear idle?? :) Reverse or forward gear? :alien:

Dave,
Very nice looking D6 ! You ought to join up with Chapter 24 - Holt Collectors Club. Give TomP-TX or I a shout sometime if you want.
You are correct, here in Killeen - US Hwy. 190 (soon to be the first leg of the Interstate 14) cuts down through a fault line at Nolanville Hill.
This is the beginning of the Texas Hill Country which is mostly to the west of us. More SouthWest of us it leans to solid Granite.
Here are a few pictures of my place and the hole I'm digging for my "WINE CELLAR" it played HECK on my (wrong color Yellow) JD510 Backhoe.
I have opened it up some more and plan on dropping a 20' Conex in there w/ Stairs into it. found a few cavities in the ground and was hoping I would run into a cave! The TEE-PEE looking deal above it is a firepit. It will be in the middle of a 40' round outdoor kitchen and sitting pavilion. The firepit will support the center of the roof and the poles around it are the outside legs.
The trench out will have drainage under the Conex and above that possibly a 16" tinhorn as a ground tube to draw air through up into the Sitting area.
This trench is only about 70' long so i may need to go smaller to cool the air better ? or more than 1 tube per trench?
I may dig 2 more trenches out to the edge of the hill on the East and the South. This one faces North. Anyone familiar with the Earth Tube concepts ?
