There a quite a few photos of a 983, we have one and they are very rare in Australia, great to see one in such good condition as they were a work horse and often ended up as wrecks. Cats last big track loader before the excavator was produced. Being such a big machine, we are likely never to see one at a show here in Oz as they are so rare. I was so excited to see it that I took lots of pics for my family back home.

We use ours to clean out dams (ponds) and have made a set of forks to go on the teeth on the bucket and load logs onto a timber jinker to go to the sawmill. We have an excavator, but the 983 is 10 times quicker to clean out a dam as the mud is walked out in the bucket instead of digging with the excavator to one pile then moving that to another pile until it is all out.

Would love to here from others with one of these great machines.
