You're not wrong there, Glen. It's mind-boggling when you see what was achieved in the days of cable.
Double LeTourneau pull-pans behind the 1H D8, huge projects carried out back then, that would still be huge projects today.
Airports, interstate highways, earth fill dams, mining - and not forgetting WW2 - it was all done with cable controlled equipment.

Hey Gang,
Look at the smile on Jan's face running a Cat again. It had been many years since he ran a D8, but I was impressed at what a good job he did. We had dredged a creek. The County had us stack the mud up as they were running put of room. Jan did a good job!!!

Hey 7Mile,
"I'll take a little dust control over cable sliver's and rat's nest's lol."
The trick is to learn how not to make a Rat's Nest. You admitted that your "Young", maybe you'll learn, but some people choose cable rigs just for The Historical Nostagial Factor about it. Oh I own hydraulic rigs, and use those too, but when it's time to enjoy myself, I choose to run my cable stuff. I simply enjoy them. There is something about getting back into the history of it all. I think of how many miles and miles of highways that were built by cable set ups. How many cubic yards of dirt moved. It's amazing when you think about it. Some choose to laugh, they may not have it figured out, but don't look down at others because they choose to enjoy themselves. I think it's a nice '51 model. glen
No no not looking down or making fun of anybody. Just a fan of hydraulics didn't mean any harm

Hey 7Mile,
Come out to California to the Santa Margarita Show. I'll let you run my stuff. I've got a couple of hydraulic pieces and many cable ones. I'll have Jan show you how to smile on a D8. glen
