Headerpuncher, interesting what you wrote about those AC rollers. Are they still available in the smaller sizes? I'm guessing not but am curious.
Cheers,

I'm not aware of any rollers made anymore that are made like that. AC had the paten on that design for a lot of years and don't know if anybody ever tried to copy it. We have a pile of good used ones hoarded away hoping we don't need them.
Here's a page describing the seal and function. Looks like a German design.

Good reading tonight. Heck of a project. Can remember hearing about Garrison Dam when in high school and stories about the twin HD 19's. Seem like the story was that PK and MK built them. Found this old home movie from a guy who worked there and toward the end it shows the twin AC's and a statement " Caterpillar said it couldn't be done so they did it." Shows the two sets of twins pushing dirt side by side.

Interesting read. The double AC operator the Bismarck Tribune refurred to, Joe Piatz was my neighbor in Stanton, ND in the seventies. I never even knew he was an operator. Long retired, he never talked about it. What a missed oppurtunity for me. His son Mike, now retired for 10 yeras or so from running 657s for the local coal mine still lives in Stanton. I'm going to look him up next time I am there and see what he remembers.

Hey Team,
A few weeks ago I saw the grills that the build team had to start with. Yesterday I saw their work in progress. Incredible Workmanship!!! Wow... Things are happening...

Hey Team,
Someone Stole the grilled lights off of my D2... Hahahaha... I wonder if they'll be showing up on the Siamese Twin D8??? I went to visit Ed Akin and he gave me directions for his ranch as to where to find the parts that Phil needed for the Siamese Twin D8. I then met up with Phil at my shop to transfer them into his truck. While he was there, I grabbed the lights that I bought a year ago from Buzz for the project. I was a couple of lights short, so what's one to do... Well my D2 got the lights knocked out of her... Hahahaha... I'll replace them with other lights, the grilled ones were needed for the build. Rumor has it that it needs to be done in less than a month and shipped out... I need to order a Permit... We are getting close Gang... Really Close...

ACMOC office did a great job with Decal Order. Dozer Blade is getting Line Bored... Things are coming together nicely. 3 weeks to Show Time!!!! In the next week or so, I'm sure we will be test driving her(hers..Them..) hahahaha
