Today's update as promised.

I thought I'd share a photo of the stainless "hardware" that will be securing the final printed components together. These bolts are obtainable from Scale Hardware. I'll be using about a dozen or so.

1mm X 3.5mm "bolt"

Here is the video update showing the completed 3D print of the winch mounted to the crawler model: (NOTE: Hover your pointer over the settings gear at the bottom of the video and select "720P HD" to be able to see the drums turn. Lower resolutions won't show it clearly.)

Next comes weathering! I need help though. Does anyone know what the seat backing was - that would be what the vinyl and springs were attached to. Plywood? I can't have a "junkyard" crawler with a pretty looking seat. If anyone has a picture of a Cat seat that shows the springs and bare backing it would be greatly appreciated! Shoot me a message or email the address below. THANK YOU!

Thanks! :) This Twenty is going to resemble the deep rust of the tracks and blade of the Allis Chalmers HD3 you may have seen in the portfolio on my site. It will be very, very heavily rusted. The seat will be like the one found on the International TD340 also in the portfolio. But there are a few surprises that this crawler will have that I've not done before...obviously the 3D printed winch being one of them.

But I can't give everything away. You'll just have to wait. :eyebrows:

Oh yes! A Twenty Two is on the horizon...and a D2...(standard and traxcavator) and a R2...and a Thirty if I can get my hands on one.

I also have other makes in inventory that will be receiving the same treatment.

By the way those pictures are fantastic! Do you have more? Information on this winch is scarce at best.

Yes I think I will change it to Hyster. That bothered me...and you're dead on with the seat. Excellent feedback! Easy enough to make changes. Much appreciated! :)

New "ergonomic" seat, with the rear portion flattened out:

Also, here is the new winch side components with Hyster name. I also modified the bracket supports so they're more rigid. The modification should make for easier drilling/tapping for the 1mm bolts.

Replied by edb on topic Cast iron Implement Seats
Hi Calvin,
thanks for sharing this new technology with us.
I am impressed with your patience and dedication so far.
I have put up a few images of farm implement seats to give you an idea of how uncomfortable the one you have "printed" so far would be.
These things are known for their ability to propagate a good set of "Farmer Giles" (piles) due to the cold hard steel/iron used.
Most have I have seen and /or used had a spud bag doubled over for extra warmth and comfort.
The seats are somewhat shaped like a horse saddle with a low horn at the front--think of the impression left by ones rear end after sitting on soft dirt/mud and it conforms to the human anatomy.

Keep up the good work and do not think for a minute I am picking on your seat. This is a part of the learning curve of life--sometimes it can get very steep :-)
Thanks and keep it coming and we will see if we can respectfully help you along to get the best result.
Regards,
Eddie B.
