Hi Pete, he was asking me $2,000 but will probably be happy with a $1,000 from anyone else...

Mike, does that mean you will be taking a smaller fee for the sale of the blade? Neil gave my $1,000 when you bought the RD6s off him.

Hi Andrew, I don't need a blade for the D2 5U because it will only ever be a tow tractor and Alan Horstmann yesterday suggested I just make a new drive shaft using a splined tube section at one end welded to a regular bit of shaft steel and a flange for the pulley at the other end, he said a hydraulic shop will have the splined tube for sure, so that just leaves the cross over pipes and control handle / rod as the big ticket items I'm thinking.

Mike, the last front drive shaft I made up was made from a pto extension shaft. Cut the female off and weld it to the flange plate and get your machinist mate to true it up and drill the bolt holes. The male end needs extending to match the pump drive.

Thanks Andrew, I'll talk to my nutcase neighbor on the weekend, I'm sure it would be a easy project for him and he's always looking to lighten my wallet of cash every chance he can, I'll take the pump into town and get some splined tube to kick start the project.

Hi Mike
I doubt you can get it lined up straight enough to bolt it on solid. Even a couple of thou extra main bearing clearance allows the crank to move slightly then extending it 10 inches forward makes it worse. Would be much better with some kind of flexible coupling. Definatly will last longer.
The origional l idea would not be impossible or easy. Can post pics of a D4 driveshaft and coupling if it will help, I have one out at the moment.
Nice rain here and cooling off winter might be getting close.
cheers Colin

Morning Colin, yes, good rain falling here right now too, can you please put up a photo of your D4 shaft when you get a chance.
Thankyou
