Do any of you guys up in E. Washington, N. Oregon or W. Idaho know anyone who has a decent hillside harvester and header that they will be selling prior to this years harvest? I have a friend in Paso Robles/San Ardo, CA that needs something like a JD 6622 to harvest his grain. My brother in law in Hollister bought 2 6622's out of Eastern Washington last year for hillside work in San Benito County and has been well pleased with them. If you know of something my friend is flying into Pasco, WA on Friday so he would be available to look at machines this weekend. Shoot me an email or give my friend Paul a call @ 805 674-4042.

Thanks. Tom

Tom, the board didn't allow me to send you a message, said it was too full.

If your friend hasn't already go to growersguide.com and download the three pdf files of the paper and search through all the ads. Pretty much every equip dealer in the hillside country of the NW has an ad there. I know there are many 6622s for sale, it is just a matter of finding a good one.

In addition to the dealer machines here is a classified ad for one.

NIF:

Thanks for the info. Paul has received several good leads including the one you posted. I am sure with a bit of patience and resolve he will drag home a nice 6622. Thanks to all. Keep the info coming please.

Just about every dealer around here has at least one 6622 on the lot. I know of a few nice ones but they are not for sale, yet. $5,000 would probably buy a combine and header that still has some life left. After trucking your friend could end up with a decent machine for not much $$.

It was a beautiful day and we got spring wheat in the ground and lots of acres ready to boot. We were pulling 70' double harrows today with the D6 and D5 in the same field for a while and the 5 will definitely float over some of the wet spots while the 6 will wallow through. Still a LOT of water running out of tile lines and in the ditches but it's trying to dry out. I don't remember this much water moving for this time of year.

My gosh Bleedinred, with 2, 70 ft harrows you probably only stayed in the field about 10 minutes. (LOL) In high gear those two rigs must cover 50 to 70 acres per hour.

Casey, we are working the driest fields as they come into shape, usually three passes to get them smoothed down and residual straw broke up, so the extra outfit has really come in handy this spring. Generally that's all we do in front of the drill unless a field has been pounded with rain, as in today's case. Then we use a Danish tine cultivator just deep enough to break up and smooth it out a little.

Tom, I saw a few 6622s at St. John Hardware in Fairfield, Wa this morning. One had 30.5tires and from the road paint looked pretty fair, probably '83 or newer. There were two older 22s with narrow tires. You can go to their web site for information and pics. Fairfield is about 40 minutes south of Spokane on HW 27 plus they have four other stores in E WA and Idaho. Good luck in your search.

After rain early in the week we got back in the field Thursday and Friday, it rained a bit both those days and was cloudy though so not great. Got some cultivating, harrowing, and fertilizing done and started seeding spring wheat but only got 50 acres in before a fuse blew for the front lights on the D4D (was seeding in the dark) and then it started raining shortly after anyway.

Note the first pic shows what happens when drain tile plugs up or breaks... a 3ft deep pond in the field.

Seeding is going well, despite the mud holes. The one inch tow cables have been getting a workout almost every day, but with today's 80+ degrees and high wind we are finally starting to dry out. Rain in the forcast tomorrow and throughout the week with lower than normal temps. It was nice while it lasted.

Spraying grass fields for broadleaf weeds. Too wet for a ground rig.

Cart sidling downhill.

NIF, the muddy track frame looks very familiar by now. The long track D6 will float across a mud hole while the implement buries itself, then it's cable time to get it out.
