The results with the no till are amazing........the soil erosion goes to nil, and the crops are great. From my son in laws this past July, seeded with his Flexi-Coil unit seen above:

Now, don't get to thinking that very much of this place is very level:rolleyes2:

A few level spots, like this one on top of a ridge that allows enough room to dump on the go;

The bulk of it, however is such that they have to establish a landing and stop the
combine to get unloaded. That's The Dalles Dam & the Columbia River in the background (just ahead of the Quad's nose)

I jumped in the cab to check out the crop first hand for a couple of passes. Really nice looking wheat: :eyebrows:

Laying out another ridge; making the first pass down a big draw here:

Headed back to the landing in this one......used up all of the leveler on the 9760
( levels to 27%) and leaned out just a tad: :eek2:

Not so bad on the next trip:

Hogging through some more 100bu+ wheat:

Wow 98J, that is good looking wheat and pics as always. There is a book called "This Was Wheat Farming" by Kirby Brumfeild(spelling?). It showes alot of good pics of Wasco county when they were farming with horses. The country looks the same but methods have came along way. The no-tillers around here are making great progress in the lower elevations where the soils are more alkiline and the rainfall is less, however up at my elevation, 3600' , they still have some kinks to work out. So far I haven't seen anything to make want to switch, but I'm sure they will get it figured out in time.

NIF, This nose came off the nieghbors D5B they converted it to a dozer cat and gave me the nose. I had to make it 3" wider to fit the D6. For me it is absolutly nessesary, not so much for the dust but when I'm working summerfallow that huge fan sucks up so much stubble I'd have to stop every hour or so to clean the grill off. The nose cured that. I also made it hinge so I can swing it off to the side when I do blow out the radiator.

Casey That wheat is a new variety called Politician, when it encounters some hard going it skates off sideways:lol:

Cutting on one of the steeper parts of the ranch. Just dumped on the grain cart so as to hit this place fairly empty in the grain tank;

Starting to run in little short on the leveler here. The wide gaps in the seeding is the result of the drill slewing down the hill during seeding. The alignment between the openers and the press wheels goes to hell. It looks pretty funky,
but doesn't really bother the yield too much:

Jeff ( my son in law) is starting to earn his pay now.Leaned out to the (machine's) left pretty good. He has that platform full and it doesn't look like he
is missing much as starts to turn down the hill slightly: :jaw:

Easy money: :cool:

One of the best yields in the county........averaged in the mid 90's when they got
it all cut:

Time to put the platform on the deck and call it a day.Note the classy D5B hooked up to a disk......just in case. The steel tracks are still around and ready to pitch in when needed.:thumb:

AHHHH a comedian in the bunch, I am not sure if that's allowed:lol: I can envision little volcanoes being made in the upholstery of that JD when cutting ''Politician'' wheat, even with a 5 point harness and a skyhook, you just never know how to hook those things properly:lol: and we won't even talk about shatter and feeding problems, maybe if you went up instead of down:loco: of course then you couldn't keep it on the screens:lol:

Speaking of pulling chisels, I thought that I would once again bore and offend everyone on this site with my non-Cat machine dubbed "THE POWERNOSHIFT" by cuz Casey. A repowed HD-11s before and after paint, I know it means very little to a ''Cat'' guy and it is not a 6C by any means but I am kind of proud of it and it pulls like it is pissed off. For those who have not seen it. Tad
