Here is an old picture of my Dad combining oats around 1958.We used that bagger until late 60's I think.I bagged oats on it-learned to tie a millers knot on there.I also remember getting very sick from breathing the oat dust. Joe

Afraid I have been getting off topic of the old steel tracks but we will just have to wait for 98J to post some more pics of the good tractors.
Until then I have a few pics to add of a lesser species of tractor.....not only do they have wheels but they are also red.....two reasons they often sit around while the crawlers do all the work. When we are done messing around with these old girls they will be replaced by JD wheel tractors.
First pic is deceptive, in order to drive across that steep hillside I had to run with the front tires angled significantly uphill but I straightened it out to snap the picture.
And just for something different here is one of the plowing rigs running on a nearby farm, a D5 and a quadtrac each paired with 10 bottom plows.

not so sure it's a lesser species- did one of these for a local puller- threw away oem eng & used 640 out of combine- pulled liners & bored- made set of OL H beam rods w/ LWT pistons & topped w/ set AL heads -- presto a 710cuin massey:D

I'm with everyone else, this has been a great thread. Good to see a M2 on the hill side. That is what I have, but it is a M2 Corn-Bean special. It doesn't even like the steep terraces. Do you have any more pics of old Cat or Deere pull type combines you can post. There is a Cat 36 out here in the shed that hopefully will be brought back to life one day. What kind of yields did you have when using them. This one has a 20' head. Don't know if it will take a full swath of 50-60 bu wheat.
Thanks, Jim

Hi everyone now that I'm home in the daylight I've taken some pics of the cab on my 17R. This spring I'll get some of it in action. Also a picture of our scenery, it's not Mt. Hood or the breaks of the Clearwater but it's home. I'll scan some old combine pics later today. Enjoy

Hi D8H. Have you pulled out your rubber tracks out extra wide for rowcrop work or extra stability. Atlas
