Woody- the 1985 titan II 6622s did have some nice features but there are not many of those machines around. Ours both have the fan housing cut out and the TII fan blades for more air. The 80' machine has a different clean grain elevator. In this area we grow alot of legumes and the fountain style will chip alot of the seeds in the bulk tank. To solve that many people bought elevators for bigger level land machines and a local fabricator made the pieces to make a so called "over the top" clean grain elevator.

222 headers are the only way to go. After running those big auger headers it is very hard to go back. With 95s, 02s, and 22s with 20' headers cutting legumes is a challenge, always have to stop and cut dogfennel that wrapped on the auger. The big augers wont wrap at all. Also in spring wheat, barley and thin winter wheat the 222 headers feed so much better that speed can be greatly increased.

Seems to be alot of 7722s for sale in this area now, can think of 7 at nearby J.D. dealers along with 3 at CIH dealers. made them from 86 to 89 all with 24' headers.

Our 82 then the 80

Hi North Idaho, The cab on my C is very interesting. When I first Saw it at Western States in Pendelton I thought it was a early factory unit. After I got ahold of the first owner, I am second, he told me what they did. They ordered it with a Cat factory ROPS and simply filled in the posts. The result is a rock solid cab with out the slightest trace of a vibration or rattle like some had.
As for the year, 1977 was what Western States advertised it as. The serial# is 17R1372 maybe someone can positivly date it. What ever the case it's older than me. LOL

The economy figures I gave was on pretty level ground. We don't have anything as steep as you. Although there is some around. We just don't have any.

If I could figure out how to post a nice big picture like you do I'd get some on here. Maybe you can clue me in.

Sounds like a good cab, the cab on our D4D can be pretty shaky running down the gravel roads with all the rocks, bot the D6 cabs are pretty solid though.

With that high of sn yours probably was one of the last 17r's. I thought they were made 1970-76 or 77, ours is sn 692 and is an early 1974 model. Funny thing is we always thought that our 84j was a 74 model because the previous owner told us that, just a couple years ago western states told us sn 1786 was actually a 73 model.

That would be great if you could get some pics posted here. What I do is resize them with microsoft office picture manager down to 1024 X 768. Then I go to img5.tinypic.info/ and simply select the files I want and click upload, then I copy the link from "hotlink for forums" and paste it in the message and it appears as two lines of text, but when you post it, only a picture shows up.

Bruce P,
Minor point....but you did ask. I show your D6-17R as a 1976 model with sr. #1536 being the end of production in that same year.

Great pictures and topics.....enjoyed them all.
Now why can't those folks looking for mag articles pick up on something like this for the stories they are requesting? Want it spoon fed I guess:rolleyes:

Thanks for the correct year on my 17R. Now I know for sure. I guess I didn't think they made that few 17Rs. Still one hell of a farm cat.

I will take more pics and post them as time allows.

Thanks for the pictures Bruce, looking forward to seeing pics of you D6C when you get a chance.

Which mill do your logs go to? We have some timberland, mostly red fir with a little pine mixed in. If we are just pulling a few trees out we fell and skid ourselves with cats and have a guy with a self-loader truck haul them. The big jobs they bring a skidder or D4 hightrack to skid with.

Hi North Idaho. We used to take everything to Bennett's. Now that they are gone I'm not sure. The next time I'm home in the daylight I'll get some pics of my cab. The outfit I work for in the winter time is getting a no-till drill ready for the ag show in Spokane, so we are working rather long hours. Leave in the dark get home in the dark.
