Easy Mistake - IT DOES SAY "START"!
I think many of us have been there at one time or another. Crank an engine and find you failed to check the gas! The switch was off or it had been wet and grounded out.
Anyone around a "screaming jimmy" that has had trouble starting it then look to find someone pulled the emergency stop? That little tin flap over the blower makes a huge difference! (I have seen mechanics overlook that one.)

Congrats on getting it running. I had a similar situation; the throttle rod was not connected on mine (hidden under hood) previous owner used all thread, and when tugged on, it sounded just like the ratchet for the governor, except it did not have quite the right feel. quite embarrassing and funny for me. Wow!!! A big thank you. You're the hero of the discussion boards today. The confusion had always been, what direction to move the lever on the governor. It was loose when I got the dozer. The air cleaner is off, so I have no throttle yet at the operators station. The manual is a bit unclear. I had the gov closed. I slammed it counter clockwise and is started right up. Performs great. Now, I can put it all back together. (once I un stick the drive clutches). Your suggestion was just what I needed, and exact on! Thanks!

yes and the seat lever works the other way. as its a single stage linkage not a double. but its where the saying "to the fire wall" comes from.

You pull the handle towards you to increase the revs on the D6. You push it away from you and pull out a detent button to shut it down.
