Just wanted to let anyone that is designing a canopy know that I used 56 feet of tube for my canopy. Sounds like a lot but it adds up pretty quickly

Took the plunge and started hacking off the old mounts on the blade. I'm going to try and put the cylinder mounts on fashioned after the Cat style 2s blade . The cutting edge is going to need a little attention also. I tried cutting some of the rotten metal away but to much rust and dirt for the torch. I have a cutting wheel for the big grinder to cut that section to see what's going on in there.
I also did a little straightening on the top of the blade, it's not perfect but not to bad for what I'm doing and I still have a lot of cutting and welding to do so we'll see how it works out.

Was able to get the first layer cut off with the cutting wheel and the torch. I ran out of oxygen so I'll be cutting some more off to get back to some good metal when I get more oxygen.
Did a little work on getting the cylinder mounts on. Did a quick check to make sure the spring cover will still fit and doesn't seem to interfere with the cover

Had to do a little reengineering , the last mounts for this blade were really wide. After looking at my d4 cat blades I decided that to mimic the cat blade I would have to narrow the blade. I didn't want to cobble something in to make it work so this was the best option. Really wasn't that bad, a couple of hours cutting and welding. I might plate some of the joints but I'm confident this is a good weld

You’ve done the trick on that dozer blade! Will you install a bolt on cutting edge? Maybe weld one on?
D2-5J's, D6-9U's, D318 and D333 power units, 12E-99E grader, 922B & 944A wheel loaders, D330C generator set, DW20 water tanker and a bunch of Jersey cows to take care of in my spare time:D

It will be a bolt on cutting edge. My welder friend has a big plasma table and buys whole sheets of AR plate and can cut the square holes and the cutter very economically.

d2gary-Your posts, this one included, provide a lot of good info. Just as an example, I think this Is one of only a few detailing a dozer rehab. Thanks for taking the time to share.
Have fun,
Bernie

Got some work done on the push arm mounts. Nothing real hi tech but I've seen a lot worse last for a long time.
Cutter edge and cylinder mounts will be next. I'm getting close to finishing the major fabrication. Paint and final assembly not to far off!!!
