that has definatly come from some where. and it shouldnt be at the bottom of housing in bits. me thinks you may have to split the trans from the bell housing to fix what ever broke.
i dont think you would get good enough access from the inspection cover.

I must’ve screwed up with the crankcase oil. I put 22 qts of rotella 15w-40. Now the engine doesn’t get up to pressure. Full fuel lever and the engine pressure only goes to low idle. Made a good pass down the driveway and after half mile crawling and scraping the hump off she started overheating. I guess I’ll give Rotella 30 weight a try.

You have something else going on as I have 15W-40 Rotella in both my machines and it works fine.
Possibly fuel leaking into crankcase???

It did pressure up fine after the oil change. Then maybe 30 minutes to an hour of operating the oil pressure dropped off. I do have coolant leaking into the crankcase. Not sure how much. It’s actually been doing that for a long time. You might be on to something with the fuel. Maybe I messed up something when I pulled the pump to free it up. I didn’t bother replacing the gaskets.

NEVER reuse old gaskets and seal unless your in the bush and its a get it going to get it home repair. they are relatively cheap if you buy from the right place. and most gaskets can be made easily and cheaply. hell ive use cornflakes packet and grease to make a gasket it worked surprisingly well. also their are gasket making compounds that replace proper cut gaskets and no that isnt rtv silicone. NOTE some older machinery set bearing and gear clearances using gasket paper as shims read the service books carefully to find out where.

I agree with trainzkid88, The oil level should be over-full. Don't be fooled if you can't smell the diesel, the mixing with oil hides the fuel odor. I had leaking injection pumps on my D7E and the oil sample report came back almost 30% diesel with no smell!!

I'm going to run some uv dye through the fuel filter and see if I can chase it down. It does seem to be making oil and the dipstick is staying a clearer brown, not that dark black I expect from a diesel.

"clearer brown" as you described is how mine was. I suspect you have a damaged gasket or o-ring.

Antifreeze leaking into the crankcase will damage rod and main bearings. Perhaps you have too much clearance and the pressure drops when the oil warms up. Elton
