Had a similar experience with a shipment of Rustoleum Old Cat Yellow.
Purchased from Zoro, shipped from a Nevada warehouse. Both cans dented at the lid. Only a few drops seeped out but no way you could reseal the can once it was opened. Cans were dented, box was fine. Some clown at the warehouse tried to pull a fast one. Two new cans were shipped and they didn't want the old ones back so I wound up with four gallons for the price of two.

So is the color chip from ACMOC the Hiway Yellow Gospel?
i.imgur.com/TccZ5Bo.jpg
That's the chip compared to Krylon 01321 Old Cat Yellow. I ask because the number on the chip is a PPG Urethane paint... Not the original CAT paint.
I have yet to take it to my land and match it to what is on my 225. I found some good areas this weekend after power washing, definitely original paint that didn't see any/hardly any UV radiation.

paint chips are hard to match up--i painted my D2 with the Cat brand old yellow---then sprayed painted the valspar transport yellow over it and it was a very good match--also sprayed the equipment yellow and it didn't match--using that for new Cat yellow on my D3b

I guess I am wondering. When I bought the paint chip online ACMOC store, I assumed I was getting a card sprayed with the actual original CAT paint, not PPG AUE 360 urethane.
Whoever mixed this paint for the ACMOC store, did they have original paint scanned and got a mixture formula from PPG? I'd like to have that formula.
I guess I feel like since this is PPG paint, I can't really trust the color...

Looks like you now have to finish painting your portico, I reckon your wife will like a cat yellow front portico
Had a young fellow come over today and he had a hot water pressure washer---180* water under 3500 psi and it all came clean!! got credit for the paint from Amazon so about 7 quarts left----UPS insurance Co said to send them the bill.

I bought a gal. Of old Cat yellow from the local NAPA dealer not sure on the match as I have not opened it yet. It was pre packaged and not mixed at the store. Just a thought.

I had never used PPG products until recently. They have very good products and many body shops swear by their products. PPG products have won many high awards in restoration and shows. A relative of mine turned me onto their products as he has used their products for many top national awards amougest thousands of other vehicles at each event. I use a PPG products and follow up with CAT paint and have been really happy.
The paint samples were the work between ACMOC and a local paint store in Peoria. As paint has changed bases and ingredients in the years the tints and hues in the paints have also changed. Going from leaded paint to non leaded paint also changed the color. Keep in mind the material, primer, hardener, and layers of paint can also change the final color of the paint color. All local paint stores and manufactures use different colors and quantites to match the color. In the past the actual manufacturer supplying paint to Cat had the exact specs for the paint and other manufactures have matched there color to sell paint but not to the exact specs of Cat.
Best bet is to find a paint you like, fits your budget, and paint you can get in future if needed and paint.
