And hopefully posting some pictures like that one I sent two Xmases ago where the top of the tree I yanked out whacked my noggin as it went down with a fight : )
The difference between the early/late AC in my parts book (covering both 2F and 1J) is only that part that you worked on in this thread. Two parts in the early, and three parts in the late. The "filter" in the late is tubular whereas the screen in the early looks like a squashed sphere. Every other part has the same number between early/late.
Anyhoo, yes I think the strategy is to have someone pull it off, post it over here, and then I'll bring it back at Xmas and verify operation. That tractor is technically my cousin's, and he wants to put it in a museum, so I need to come up with a replacement that he can put in there.
Hmmmm, you need a "replacement" crawler for the cousin to put in a museum eh Neil, I'd suggest you give him a TD6, best place for those boat anchors is a museum particularly if poor Mother is going to all the hard work of fixing the 22 for cousin, the Td6 will be busted in the back end and unable to move itself while the old 22 still has a few thousand good hours getting flogged by you in her yet...........

If you are restoring one, I can understand. But I ran my Cat 22 with the fuel pump blocked off and bypassed for well over twenty years. The tank should be plenty high enough for gravity.

Correct, my running 22 came off a sugar cane farm still working regularly 10 years ago, it had the lower fuel pump body filled with solder.

My cousin's one also runs on gravity, but you know, I like things that are there to work : )
I looked over a 22 at Ron's auction on Saturday and realized the thing I don't have is the fuel change-over valve. If I pick one of those up, then this tractor will be fully back to how it came from the factory.
Cheers,
Neil

While on a "911" Service Call to get a 936 Loader going. The fellow was impressed with the repairs and asked if I can rebuild "Fuel Pumps"? I said, No but do know of a Company that does. He gave me a box with 2 old bronze body and 1 aluminum pump stating to just let him know the charge. Guess a telephone call to "Then and Now" is in order for today!

Just found this old thread while searching for 22 fuel line parts, Neil, did you ever get your fuel pump over to Mike and back to New Zealand?

I have a variation on the issue if a Model 22 Fuel Pump (1937 F series Cat)with a brass fuel pump
I have serviced the pump (new diaphragm and checked the valves - outlet is the cage type noted above and appears to be sound; inlet is just a small flat composition type disc held with a small spring loctaed in the middle of the big hex nut)
The issue is that when mounted on the motor and turning over by hand, the pump doesnt create suction - but in the vice moving the arm generates good suction. Applying upward presssure on the pump actuating arm, through the top of the governor housing, results in good suction. The governor shaft cam appears to be resulting in vertical movement of 200 thou at the pump arm contact (rod part 3 2B19280. The impression is that there is not enough vertical movement occuring in this rod, and hence in the diaphragm.
Can anyone advise:
- what is the original length of the vertical actuating rod 2B1928 - current length is 4 3/64"
- what should be the extent of verticsal movement in this rod based on the cam profile on the governor shaft
Tony
