I'm rebuilding a 22 fuel pump right now and have the new diaphragm material organized, but I need to source the one way valves, has someone gone down this path already and can give me a more modern part number I can take to a parts store?
Thanks
Mike

I have never had one rebuilt myself, but know that "Then and Now Automotive " rebuilds these pumps. - Wally

i have purchased a lot of parts from then and now- great people to deal with!
www.maritimedragracing.com/then_and_now_automotive.htm

the valve, is that the small brass valve with a spring and a small octagonal dics in the bottom?
I rebuilt one for my forty and made the parts out of brass and phenolic materials.

You will need the numbers from the housing when ordering a kit but it will ensure the correct kit . I have rebuilt a couple of pumps with these kits and all worked grate .

Thanks for that Moulding, I just emailed them with the AC pump #1522151 asking about buying the parts, looking at my Stewart Warner pump and the AC pump side by side they look identical, and the 22 parts book shows the same P/N for the important bits like the diaphragm and valves.

Hi Neil, I have four 22's, a mixture of both 2F and 1J machines, so I'm dealing with both AC and Stewart Warner pumps on these tractors, though the pumps appear almost identical to me externally and the parts book shows they share the same parts.

I contacted Then and Now Automotive and got a quick reply from Mike there, seems a real good guy to deal with and the full rebuild kit is $47.50, plus postage, he sent me a photo of his kit and it has everything you need in it, and if I had half a brain I'd know how to upload the photo of the kit from my emails, but I don't, so I can't, sorry.

Does anyone in Oz need one of these rebuild kits for their 22 other than Wimmera Farmer, I'm happy to get a couple of spares and share the postage.

Mike,

I too working on fuel pump for a Cat 22 and found the same rusted valve part in the chamber above the diaphragm. I bought the kit from Then and Now and while many of the parts are useful (and I'll keep the kit) it's not an exact match. I did supply the casting number (2151.) I called Then and Now and discussed the situation but they do not have this part. I am trying to figure out the dimension so that I can machine a replacement, and I'd be more than happy to share my drawing when complete. But I am having a tough time figuring out exactly the clearances. I assume the small round disc in the valve is held in the closed position by the spring and moved up by the output action of the pump diaphragm. The disc has to be big enough to cover the hole but small enough to allow fuel to pass by and out the top of the valve when unseated. And I assume there was a detail inside the valve to prevent the disc from topping out and blocking the fuel flow. Any insights or other pictures of the rusted part are welcome. Also, can you measure the diameter of the disc and let me know?
