Ian is right to comment on this "meant to be a family friendly forum" and you are also right we need to laugh at our selves . But I think it is wrong to call Ian to task over the thread going of the rails so to speak and Ian commenting on it

Personally I dont see all to much wrong with what was typed and you will hear a lot worse in my shed than you will ever hear on here
However in my shed I have my rules and expect people when they are in my shed to respect my rules they mighten like them well tough its my shed
The forum has its rules and they are quite clear what the rules are on this type of thing and well maybe people skirted along the edge for a tad to long

But what really gets get goat is when some suggests that perhaps someone else may "want to take there bat and ball and play somewhere else" now that to me high lights the very reason rules are made the forum as I under stand it is meant to be for of those with a interest in old Caterpillar equipment and associated gear

Not for personal attacks of any nature at all and the saddest part is if we cant be polite and get along we will end up with even more rules yes we are becoming even more controlled than ever because with rules but who's fault is that if we all played nice and used manners most of the rules we have would never have been around

Ian has spoken to me quite often about that it appears to be two sets of rules on the forum and at times I have to agree other times Ian will discuss something with me and I will tell him I dont think its a problem

On this occurrence Ian hasnt contacted me not that he has to but we havent spoken about this either on the phone or thru the key board so Im sticking my beak in well and truly

I dont have so much a problem with smuttiness of the thread more the way we treat people we all should be made to feel welcome and feel that we can contribute freely with in the forums guide lines and I dont believe that has happened in this case

So perhaps as my mother would say to me when us kids werent using manners "You kids need to go and check under your pillow for manners" I believe we all know whats right deep down with out any rules at all and if you didnt I dont know how you all have made it this far as a lot of blokes I have worked with would have "layed you out on the ground" for not using basic manners dont touch another mans tools, always check before turning something back on, dont steel, always own up to what you did, dont gossip (no one seems to care about that much anymore but as a apprentice it was a big no no you were warned once or twice and then taught) basically real simple manners whats that one "treat others the way you want to treated" struth that has gone out the window these days

So maybe before you all jump on the band wagon and get stuck into me think about it a bit and then jump on the band wagon if you want and give me a good going over

I do not have a problem with someone saying that members have gotten off track and yes some may have gone to far, but comparing this thread to the way "Catman " was treated that gets me! Many of the writers are good friends and to think that they and myself should be banned for this thread just because someone does not like the way someone else was treated for a different behaveur I think that is unfair.

My point is we don't want things to get out of hand with mud slinging and people shooting first and asking questions
later !!! oh and I didn't mention any names but you are absuluty right a bit of silliness and banter isn't the same as spreading lies and missinformation , that had an effect on hundreds of paying ACMOC members ....

Ian you are right you only used innuendo to raise banning people from the forum, and I will look for your example of how to respect others, and be family friendly.
