Gary,

I don't remember a video that brought back as many memories. Can't thank you enough.

On the lighter side, it's a wonder we didn't all kill ourselves back in the day. But the funny thing is the badest I ever got hurt was forgetting about the rops and standing up banging my head.

Again, thanks.

I enjoyed the shorter videos when you posted them, but the full length is outstanding.

The editing and music are perfect. Watching this equipment working when it was state of the art is great.

The thing I found I enjoyed almost more than just watching the work after watching it a couple of times through was the before and after work shots of guys standing around, leaning on their cars smoking, the little interactions on the jobsite and seeing all the other details, like the pickup with the wrong color door.

The guy who appears to be bringing his paperwork in, then gets told to take it to someone else, the dozer operator who stops, walks over and confers with the water truckie, then walks back and goes to work.

These are all the things I remember, although from ten years after these shots, when i was a little boy holding my Dad's hand and going out to see the work going on. Most of my visits involved ag field work, rather than construction, but it was the same cast of characters. Men with horn rimmed glasses, always with a cigarette, often with a hat of some sort and always giving each other a hard time and working hard.

I've really enjoyed these and am glad you posted them.

Pete.

Hi, Gary in Ca.
Great stuff, M8. Thanks for sharing, for taking the time and trouble to put it up for the world to see some of the best times ever in earthmoving and construction.

My memories are of a different country, a different culture and a different hemisphere but the same can-do, 'gitterdunn' attitude. I have 46 years of memories stored on the - slowly softening - 'hard drive' in my head and I treasure them all. I think I have been extremely fortunate to have lived and worked in the places that I have and done all the things that I have done and I am absolutely convinced that I have seen the best years of the construction game. Much as still I enjoy operating heavy equipment, with all the rules and regulations these days, I find myself looking forward to retirement in a couple of years.

Thanks again for the videos and the memories and please thank Murl for me too.

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.
