This topic within JM’s original post “show us your D2’s” has gained momentum. Maybe administrator could set up “Service Recorders” as a new topic.

The added interest is fantastic. The service meter collected so much interest I thought it might merit a thread where it could be more easily found.
I did other searches out of interest, and found other options on eBay. Cool stuff - Fun post to follow. 👍

I recall seeing those service meters on quite a bit of equipment on the Westside of the valley Central Valley sitting out in yards years ago and wondered how they worked as a kid. I used to see them on quite a bit of the fertilizer companies custom applicator fleet such as Western Farm Service, Simplot, pure grow and Best. Agri till hadn’t heard that for awhile… not to many alive anymore from those days.

Service Meter - LOL
When I was a youngster Dad was running a crew, operator of dragline did not seem to be making much progress.
A "stool pigeon" was installed - did not lie about the time the machine was running!
Of course it was placed in plain sight too!

Steeltracs mentioned Agri-Till that is a name from the past I had forgot about them we rented a couple of D6Cs and a D7G from them the were nice to deal with, I think Holts were a major partner in them and when the economy went south in the early 80s they went out of business and Holts fell on hard times which I think we could be headed in that direction again at least in the AG economy my 2 cents anyway. 17afarmer

17A: They are still around, calling themselves ATI based out of Firebaugh, CA.
I remembered a crafty neighbor of ours renting a D7G or a Super 7 for ripping. Ran that thing 23.9 hours each day and tried to tell them they only used it 8-10 hours a day; Agri Till had more than one recording device on that machine…talk about maximizing your rental use!
They used to have D4D tailseat tractors for rent too! JM

This is an ATI D8 that 17AFarmers cousin rented to rip ground that one of my great uncles owned at one time.
For me it was a great honor to work the same ground my uncle owned and farmed. It was my first time operating a hightrack let alone an air condioned crawler. It was a nice ride.
