love to watch you struggle they certainly do, especially when your at a display and the bloody useless mongrel of a thing wont bloody start!! It's as if they can smell it and they flock around. and then its not only its usual cantankerous self it gets performance anxiety and is even harder to start.
and you get the shoulda and whydinya people among the other exhibitors who sprout suggestions but wont lift a finger to actually help you.

TK88: That is certainly the case isn't it? Each of mine get stage fright when more than a pair of eyes watching. Plenty of commentary about my lack of experience etc; I try to ignore it, I did have a nice fellow "offer" help, it was more like a plea, as he whipped out two HUGE cans of starting fluid (almost out of thin air) and BEGGED me to let him douse my tractor with them. I could swear he had a holster for those cans. JM

Juiceman - that reminds me of the only time I drove my '67 Fairlane to a car show. I was living in Northern VA at time time and the show was about 30 miles away. Car had a 13.5:1 514 (bored and stroked 460) with a Dominator carburetor, big nasty solid roller cam and 4" bullet mufflers. It was obscenely fast, loud as all he11, and not very streetable.
When I went to leave, it took a few minutes for that 514 to light off, and everyone was watching. I finally got it going and got out of there.

nice car. my uncle had a genuine Australian ford cobra hardtop there was only enough cars made for homogulation so so they could go racing. that was the cams and ardc rules back then you had to sell a certain number to the public if you wanted to race em in the australian racing drivers championship.
and yes JM, that's the hard bit ignoring the arseholes and the self conscious pressure that often makes things worse.
it why i love the 32v lighting plant we have its electric start provided the batteries are charged. set the fuel needle hold the choke and press the button and she fires easily.

Nice looking '67. Had a '66 GT with 390 that would pass anything but a filling station. Had to change Cam and lifters as originals would float at 6 grand.

What was the color combo on your 66, D4Jim?
I actually just sold my '66 GT convertible; it was a clone, originally C code 289/2bbl/C4/8". I upgraded to a 428 with Edelbrock heads and a mild solid roller, forged bottom end, headers, ported Streetmaster intake, etc. Built a wide ratio toploader for it, backed by a 9" with a TrueTrac diff and 3.25 gears. Anyway, I get bored with 'em once they're done with shiny paint, so I sent it down the road a few months ago.

Hi, bulletpruf.
It might have more HP and go faster than a D7 but the D7 will 'dump upon it fromma GREAT height when it comes to going places or sheer pulling power.
Just my 0.02.
You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

Hey BP, my '66 GT was a silver blue and I think Ford called it Skylight Blue color 4 speed 2 dr hardtop. Had to redo the rear springs after the engine work because the stock springs had such severe "wind up". Std 3.25 rear end.
It was my first new car!!
Yours is one Beautiful Convertible!!
