Neil: I’ll call it a sideseat machine if someone is willing to pay a premium! Yes, good eyes. I was going to ask the “experts” if it came from a motor scraper?
Gee’s Junk Pile here we come…
One more to fetch and I will begin building a late D4.

Juiceman -
Is that some sort of new specialized ROPE for the starting engine on that "sideseat" you dragged in?
And you thought no one would notcice - hah!

Front mounted hydraulic pumps
It is truly a miracle those did not have more damage, certainly have all the makings of a failure without guards.

"Protection" will be part of 44,185 if we ever get it home. I have some factory guards that I have rustled up.Gonna find a long rope for CTS so he can get a run at getting an extra revolution out of the pony when starting. I recall a real calm fellow that took a coiled up rope and stomped on it like it was a rattlesnake once...
The hook sure does add some "bling" to a tractor. Unfortunately for me, that one is missing the lead strap that goes to the center; let's see what the last one has on it before I panic. JM

Ranch cleanups can be great. Several years ago a realter called me and said I could have a little gas Cat if I cleaned the rest of the stuff off of the property. I had to remove a couple of junk wheel tractors and discs before I started digging out the Cat. It was like Christmas time. I pulled out a Small 20 that looked pretty good. I never did get the engine unstuck and later sold it. Recently a friend got a job doing a ranch cleaning and ended up with a D2 4U that only took him an hour or two to get running. Cleanups are like Easter Egg Hunts, you never know what you will find.

😉 Good looking undercarriage, later style dry air cleaner, live hydraulics, and 5 roller tracks, just about all the goodies. 😊

Grant: I agree it can be fun. I wanted to get closer with the disc and knock down some weeds next to the tailseat, only to discover a Dyer? drag disc of sorts buried in the brush that nobody knew about. I think the jungle that I disked under was not much compared to next to the house and outbuildings. Apparently the renters didn't care about upkeep.
The scary part was some scrappers wanted to come in with cutting torches and hack stuff apart in that thicket.
Ray: That last photo was of one I bought at auction just for cannibalizing. Yes, it is against my belief to "gut" a machine, although the engine starts easy enough, it is tired and worst off the steering has been frozen for many years according to the previous owner. The beefy undercarriage and 5 rollers will likely be swapped over to the 44,xxx machine I bought for a full restoration. Many good bits on this one, 12V starter and alternator conversion, etc.
CTS: The new project has twin starting already, but I will be sure to make the little engine operable just for YOU! As always, if the rope is in the toolbox.
