If you put that chunk of iron on a 9 full "U" blade you'll have the bottom rollers and idlers shot in an hour tip toeing around on the idlers!!!!!!!!!!!!

Welcome. I’ve got a D2 Caterpillar. I’m retired and it’s my favorite toy. People on here have good experience. And if you read and question them you could be enlightened. But they are not going to just tell you.

the link deas posted is the style i was referring too. and when you add the tree spear you can get some real leverage as you putting the push point much higher on the tree.
a word of warning make sure your machine has a decent belly pan if you going push timber it only takes a sharp root to ruin your day with a busted sump.
and if your sweeping up heaps and burning them take the belly plate off before working the burnt or burning heaps. a cousin nearly lost a machine as the accumulated oil grease and crud ignited from the heat and a hot coal got in.

Hi, JoeMoad.
ROME K/G has a point about the weight on the front of the tracks and it would also contribute to my earlier mention of cracked main frames above or just ahead of the equalizer bar. How-wevver, if yours is a later H' series machine, I believe it will have the beefed up frame and the 'backscratcher' hanging off the back of your machine would help to counterbalance the weight of the U-blade and rake. That said, if it was mine, I would be thinking about the possibility of removing the blade and fitting the rake direct to the tractor with the middle suitably filled in, always assuming, of course, that the bigger rake is the end choice.

Yes sir it has a large backscratcher with 1 tooth in the middle. After your information has been digested within my self I have decided to completely forget the Aussie Rake. Heck that big blade 15+ feet wide should handle these fragile Cedar trees. By fragile I mean they come out easy as pie. I appreciate your knowledge letting me know that this big rake could do lots of damage to my undercarriage which is real good and tight for its age. It was replaced by the previous owner not too long ago by mechanics inspection.
Thanks again:
JoeMoad

Hi, JoeMoad
A good hand with a blade can make burn piles near as clean as a rake anyway - just requires good control and technique.
There are a good few dozers running around in DowNunda with the big rakes on them and I haven't heard a LOTTTA complaining about roller or idler wear. 'Course, people may be keeping quiet about that too but most do tend to mention that in 'passing conversation' if they are unhappy about it.
Have FUNNNN.

Yep they said I needed a thumb for my excavator but an old hoe hand told me that thumbs haven been around that long and he said he could do almost everything with the bucket old style and not spend the 5 grand plus to plumb and pay for the thumb. So I learned how to grab things without the thumb. And I am thinking like you said that I can learn to push without the rake and by golly that’s what will happen.
Thanks
