Hello ACMOC members!i just joined this faboulous forum today. I have been lurking for about a week on and off. I am purchasing an older D9H to clear cedars on my ranch in Oklahoma. I have a link belt excavator 240 lx and get them with it but now i need more push. I appreciate all the knowledge that is present on this forum and hope to get some great information about my old girl in the future. If i can be of any help please contact me.

Respectfully:

Welcome! You shouldn't have too much effort with the D9. That's quite a hefty piece of iron to pack around and use. Was it the only decent sized dozer available to you, or just "Go big or stay home"? Lol. Here in N. California, the D8H and K's are still quite popular.
Glad you joined, you will be able to get a lot of help and don't be surprised if you get a lot of requests for photos of your new "toy". JM

Juiceman i appreciate the info from you. I have always wanted the bi girl(D9H). I have a 2004 Peterbilt with a newly rebuilt 3406 C-15. I have a 55 ton Fontaine RGN with a tandem axle jeep. (7 axles total). I hope i can scale with my setup? I wont be able to get her home for another week or two. I have over 1500 acres of cedars on my ranch needing to hurry up the contract with the Gov. I have had alot of other ranchers that will hire me and my son to eradicate their cedars when ours is finished around the first of January. The D9H with a root rake will speed up the process 300 times based on how slow the excavator is. I appreciate your message and look forward to hearing from you soon!

I will have some sanding the surface rust (not bad as it looks) and primer and paint. She will look like she is going out on a Saturday night! She is a one owner and had a great life from the previous owner that passed away recently. Heck i know she is overkill for what i will need her for but she will last a long time after i am gone. Main thing is that she has a good home with us and our dream has come true!

Hi, JoeMoad.
Welkum too ther 4um.

That looks like a nice catch, hope it goes well for you. Personally, I always preferred the D9Gs 'coz they had more controllable steering and were not as close to the limits of being able to contain their power. The Gs had final drive problems but the Hs had more of them. Also, if yours is an early H. be on the lookout for cracking in the main frame above or just ahead of the equalizer hard bar mounts due to the heavier blade.

Just my 0.02.

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

Thanks Deas Plant!

I will definately check for those. What if there are cracks there? Are they weldable or have to be replaced?

Thanks:

Joe, welcome. What technique will you use to clear the cedars? What size are they?

Cheers,
