D4Jim,
As far as sowing discord you seem to have done a remarkably good job at just that. You and others seem to have reading comprehension issues so you make up things to suit your narrative. That is perfectly fine and your right to do so......I just choose to ignore and not engage.

Bill,
It seems that these appointments are upsetting to you, help me understand why that is, I am genuinely interested.

I cannot answer the question as I have not inquired, it is not relevant. It is not relevant because both were asked by the Board, (and they generously agreed), to give their time and talents to the Club, they did not demand to be placed on the BoD.

This will very likely be the last response I give in regards to the issues floating around the "Concerned" group. The Club has business that needs to be attended to that myself and the rest of the directors agree is of greater importance than continuing to engage. The concerned group has had four opportunities to publicly voice their concerns at Club sanctioned events (three town halls and one AGM) and has failed to do so. These events were specifically held for the purpose of allowing any member to voice concerns, complaints, kudos, or solutions.

As president, I have to move on with the Club's business, continuing the tit-for-tat does not serve the members.

This Club can be better
This Club can thrive
This Club must modernize
This Club must realistically face its challenges
This Club must increase communication and be fully transparent in those communications
The Club must engage its members and chapters to find the right solutions
This Club must solve for challenges with pragmatic solutions
All must understand that just because a problem has been ignored in the past, that it cannot continue to be ignored forever
Operating the Club as if it were 2002, 2008, 2012, even 2018 does not work in 2022 and beyond

We will leave in the past practices that have not been beneficial, we will solve problems that have not been solved, we will introduce new methods, practices, partnerships, programs, and alliances that will build the Club's future.

The Board of this Club is dedicated to building toward a better future for all of us.

Kurt, several members of the concerned group were on the town hall meetings. They said that the meeting was a little chaotic. I am on the fence, and I am willing to here both sides of the story. All members should stop and listen to both side before they start bashing the other. In my lifetime I have found that it is easier to get along with people than it to fight them. I hope for a civil outcome to this issue.

Chuck, all of the meetings went about three hours each we would have went longer if needed. I am of the opinion that everyone was courteous and respectful raising their hand to be recognized, using the chat window, and all had the opportunity to speak.

I agree 100% much easier to get along.

Hi, ChuckC.
Quote:

Unquote.

Are these people talking about the same meetings????

I was on the American town hall and the European one and BOTH were calm and courteous ALL the way. I did notice some 'concerned members' doing some 'sandbagging' .while not contributing much if anything unless prompted or asked.

In particular, it seemed that they had ZERO intention of airing what seems to be their REAL grievance, that 'their' club, a club started by Americans for and about an American brand of machinery, had several 'foreigners' on the board of directors. 'Their' club had been 'hi-jacked', at least in their eyes. It STOPPED being just 'their' club when they signed their first international member.

With a brand like Caterpillar, if they really wanted it to stay an all-American club, they ought to NEVER have put it on the internet.

Are they not interested in celebrating the fact that their favorite brand has spread pretty much all over the world????

Just my 0.02.

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

This whole mess is not about people having different opinions, as we all do, but the method that was employed by a few to make a hostile BoD takeover and thrust the will of a few upon the entire membership.  The BoD has bent over backwards to listen to opposing views but that has meant nothing to the savage sixteen that insist on going ahead with their meeting this weekend.  Their wasted time and money could go a long way to assist the current club rather than encouraging the membership to choose sides.
To repeat, this fiasco is not about listening to different opinions but rather dealing with a hostile takeover and no matter how much lipstick they put on the pig, it is still a hostile takeover attempt by a few that have their own interests in mind rather than the interest of the club. There are many ways to bring ideas and suggestions to the BoD in a positive way rather than beginning with a hostile takeover of the present BoD.
I probably said too much but I have never seen such a high handed way to foist the interests of a few upon an entire membership. Their idea of fairness is that if you cannot make it Morton IL on Nov 19, you have no vote  in what transpires at the meeting.  Putin would be proud.

In the member area click on the "membership directory" and when it comes up, one can click on the arrows alongside the various user name, last name, or any of the others to sort the data by that column. It can be sorted up or down by clicking on the up or down arrow.
