Ive been away from acmoc forum for about a month but I wanted to thank everyone for the good tips and advice. I finally made time to get the ol delco-remy pony motor starter put back together. I almost sought advice on getting the end plate(with new brushes attached) back on the housing. Unless I was going about it all wrong it seemed that the brushes had to be installed on the end plate first before attaching it to housing. So what I did was take a bit of wire and tie the brushes back under spring pressure. That way they could clear the commutator. Once it was on I just clipped the wire to release the brushes. I couldnt imagine putting that plate on first and attempting to mount the brush through the housing cutout lol. Anyways all is good and the starter works fine. I do wish I was able to replace the thin cog kickout spring. Once I take power off the starter the gear cog doesnt spiral back down the shaft to easy. Maybe once its installed it will act with normal action. Well now comes the part I dread the most. Getting that darn starter back on with that huge A-frame(ht4) and firewall in the way. So now its on to the zenith carb project! Thanks again.
