Thanks Willie,
How about production start dates on the 6H1 & 3K1?
The earliest I can pin point the 4400G to is 1935 (crawler)
Was wondering if that engine showed up earlier in the graders.

Ok, Thanks
Man those lists are bad, one says 6H is a grader, other lists 7E model.
Production years are off......Totally bogus information:rolleyes:
hicrop 10, it would appear that yours is a 1938 model..........uh.....maybe;)

OM I think you find flaws in all the writen stuff, nobody knows for sure about the dates of the early stuff and if Cat ran short of parts they didnt stop assbly line they just used old stock so its hard to tell when change over were, also when they upgraded a part or how the made it they never changed the part no. like the tailseat lots of changes but always same no. hood latches, gauges. oil& gas caps are bronze, steel and aluim. all were made for diff yr machines but all have same part no.

Hi Team,
BE AWARE that the list I posted was for "Motor Grader Engines" (Power Units) and not a list of actual Motor Grader S/Nos. The 9A, 1F, 6F, 6H, etc are Power Units as fitted to the graders, perhaps other than the standard engine, Gas vs Diesel option, hence the S/No of the engine can be the same as the machine(as normal) or the optional Diesel or Gas Power Unit.
This is my take on this apparent mix up but when I also realised some years back this was how it is then it sort of makes sense. Many years ago at the Dealer I O/H'd a rusted stuck clutch on a 6F 3cyl. Diesel Power Unit from a No11 Auto Patrol and found for the first time in my experience that the S/Nos did not match and after some searching through S/No books etc. I found that the No11 could come with a Gas or Diesel Power Unit.
Anyway just found this Parts Book for the 1F Gas P/Unit, 4 1/2" x 5 1/2" 4 cyl.-- suits No11 as stated.
Hope this helps to sort out some of the apparent confusion on Grader/Power Unit S/No anomalies.
Keep Smiling Team,
Cheers,
Eddie B.

Hi Team,
just found this sales blurb, undated, for No 10 AP with the 4 3/16" x 5 1/2" 4 cyl. Gas Power Unit, so OM you were correct in the first instance, but as we did not get a S/No we could have had either of the optional engines offered later on !!!
So in part we were both correct with the Data supplied in the initial enquiry.
Sorry don't have Parts Book for the Gas unit only the Diesel.
Cheers,
Eddie B.

You are correct the power units have diff ser. no. the the grader he has should have a 4C power unit. Heres an example on a grader with 28 engine the power unit has diff ser.no from grader and not a 28 ser. no. but it is a 28 engine
