Chapter Nineteen

Thanks to everyone that came to Lake Goldsmith on Saturday to help clean up the shed after the floods, many hands make light work and the bulk of it was done in one day. 2 Ton final drives drain and refilled, all tractors checked, started and ran, cupboards, shelves and display cases all opened and cleaned, and our two fridges that did not survive were removed. In addition Richard got his generator dried out and running. With all the LGSPA excess materials now removed and the mezzaine in full use we have more room than ever and the shed looks neat and tidy!

Thanks to those members that turned out for our 2022 AGM, and especially to Brendan & Sue for hosting and catering the meeting. Steve Jackel having served his two years as President has stepped down but remains on the committee, and Mark Hutchings accepted the nomination as President. He will serve a one year term, but is able to renominate in 2023. The rest of the office bearing positions remain unchanged, but we were very excitied to welcome Rob Fern to the committee for the first time, and Neil Clydsdale self nominated to return to the committee as well as all other committee members who renominated. We are very lucky as a volunteer organisation to have such an active and well representated committee!

This year also saw two new members honoured for their involvement and dedication to the Chapter and Club. Both Karen Jackel (postmously) and Steve Jackel were honoured with their names side by side on the new Chapter honour board to be placed in the Lake Goldsmith Shed. Steve very emotionaly thanked the Chapter for this honour on behalf of Karen and himself.

William Adams was a key suppporter hosting its Global Operator Challenge at the DIG DEEP industry event to help raise awarness of depression in the construction industry and funds for Beyond Blue, a cause we have previously donated to. Thanks to Leigh Rees for his D4 with scoop, Jamie Loaring for wide gauge Twenty Two and Rob Bassett-Smith for manning the stand to show ACMOC's support of Wiliam Adams and the cause. Rob sold $457 of merchandise and signed up one new member! The event was a sell out with over 6000 people coming through the gate. Well done everyone involved, we even got William Adams marketing manager Justin onto the Twenty Two!

On the 7th August, the committee were very lucky to have Rob Fern host us for a meeting, BBQ lunch and tour of his sheds and museum in Silvan. Over 50 tractors in the collection with a huge range of brands. Rob is a collector of EVERYTHING and we throughly enjoyed the tour and his hospitality - definately looking to host a general Chapter event there in the near future. Thanks very much for looking after us and showing us around Rob! It was also great to have our President Steve Jackel join us despite his current health concerns and thank you to Neil Clydsdale for making the long trip to give us an update on 2025 projects he is working on.

Thank you to those members that purchased their NHMA public liability insurance for $20, or let me know they already hold public liability insurance. I must say however it has been a very disspointing repsonse rate this year. Remember, if you attend and participate in any form of Chapter activity at a sanctioned rally or event, the Chapter does NOT provide insurance coverage as part of your ACMOC finanical membership. You MUST hold your own policy, failure to do so potentially exposes you and the Chapter in the event of an accident and claim. If you enter a rally as a paying public person, you CANNOT participate in Chapter activities and CANNOT operate machinery or enter any area outside of that designated public access. Honestly for $20 per year it is literally 'cheap insurance' and the Chapter offers to administer this for you at no cost. NHMA will accept additional isurance registrations throughout the year, so if you still want it please contact the secretary.
